Additional info & updates

4/5/13- Received waitlist offer via e-mail for Southwestern's part-time day program SO EXCITED but SO NERVOUS!! I can choose to submit an additional two page essay answering two prompts.

4/8/13- Received waitlist offer via e-mail for Chapman's part-time day program.

4/16/13- ACCEPTED VIA E-MAIL AT SOUTHWESTERN!!! My dream school!!! It's ironic because I had been working on my additional essay for two weeks and was about to submit it when I received the acceptance!!

4/17/13- Called Loyola to see when they would be getting back to me. The woman I spoke to was a bit rude but she let me know by next week!

4/19/13- Checked Loyola app status online, stated that a decision was rendered on 4/17/13 and I would be receiving the letter soon (Loyola doesn't let you know via e-mail or phone).

4/20/13- Received rejection letter from Loyola... honestly didn't even phase me lol!

4/24/13- Accepted via e-mail to Cal Western with 20% scholarship!!

4/25/13- Cal Western invite to visit the school and see if it is the right fit for me (since I don't live near the school, they will provide airfair/mileage reimbursement & up to two nights hotel accomodation in San Diego!)

4/26/13- Gave up my waitlist spot for Chapman, hoping someone who really wants to go there gets it!!

Hi cosandiego8845, I want to go to law school in LA and the other schools I applied to were back ups. In regards to programs, I plan on continuing to work during school so the part time programs better fit my needs. Also, I didn't apply to a lot more because I wanted to apply to ones I knew I may actually attend.

So you're saying you didn't send in anything extra to Southwestern when they gave you the option to send that essay? Can you tell me what you had to do, and what time limit they gave you? I am interested in Southwestern but haven't heard back yet. We have similar stats.

Fingerscrossed99, no, I ended up not sending the additional essay. All I did was confirm that I wanted to be put on the wait list and that I would be sending the optional essay. They didn't really give a time limit, but I would suggest sending in whatever additional information they give you the option to. I also suggest visiting and meeting with people from admissions to show your interest and dedication to attending their school. I scheduled a tour about a week after being waitlisted but ended up being accepted a couple of days prior to my tour. I still went and learned more about the school and the resources available to me in the years to come.

ojSIMPSON, yes, I submitted it Sunday night (3/10/13) and it was processed the next day. Perhaps it's a good thing you haven't heard back just yet. What are your stats and what program did you apply to?

Thanks for the reply! I'm going crazy here with all the waiting (and paying a seat deposit for another school just in case isn't making me happy either)... but such is life. I applied to the day (full time) program. I have really strong work experience (mainly Armenian Genocide / Human Rights related work) and have overcome a lot in my life. Again, thanks for your response. Best of luck to you!

Putting down the seat deposit was a smart decision, JUST IN CASE. You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders and I hope you continue to stay involved in those activities throughout school, I'm sure you are going to do amazing no matter where you go! Good luck to you as well!
