Additional info & updates

Have decided to attend William Mitchell, but still waiting to hear an official decision from , UMaryland, Pace and U of St. Thomas before sending in my deposit.

Pace: Application held on 5/4. I had to contact the Admissions Office to find out the status on my application. Only then did they notify me that my application was held. A few weeks ago, I received a strange email from them asking if I was still interested, but never heard a formal response back afterwards. Personally I think it's more than a tad disorganized because if you're going to hold or waitlist someone's application, you should at least officially tell them, even if it's over status checker, instead of waiting for them to contact you.

U St. Thomas: Accepted via status checker on 4/29. Got acceptance packet in the mail on 5/3. Received $3000 scholarship, but declining a seat in their incoming class because WM is still cheaper.

UMaryland: Rejected via snail mail on 5/3. Decision made on 4/29. Didn't expect to get in here; it was a long shot.

Rutgers-Newark: Rejected via snail mail on 4/19. Status checker was never updated to notify me that a decision had been made, or sent. Those slackers.

UPitt: Rejected via status checker on 4/6.

Catholic: Told via status checker that they made their decision on 4/4 and are sending it via snail mail. Humph. Status checker is such a tease. Rejected via snail mail on 4/11. Wasn't expecting to get in, but would have been nice.

Still waiting to hear on all the others. Deposit deadlines are due on 4/15, so I'm starting to worry that I won't hear back from enough schools in time to make an educated decision. I don't want to have to put in a deposit at a school before hearing back from the rest, but I may have to. Going to try to talk to Suffolk Admissions this week on my visit to see if I can get an extension on the deadline so I can hear back from more schools. Checking status checker maniacally until I see an update.

U Baltimore: Waitlisted via status checker on 3/31. Definitely WASN'T expecting that since my stats fall within the usual admitted range, but oh well. I'll live. Probably won't stay on the waiting list since I'd rather go elsewhere if they aren't going to take me right off the bat.

Boston College: Rejected via snail mail on 3/31. Totally expecting that, but at least it was worth a shot.

Rutgers-Camden: Waitlisted via email on 3/30. Said they liked my personal statement. Not sure if I'm going to stay on the waiting list, but we'll see. The list isn't ranked until August 1, which will put a serious damper on my plans to move late-July. I'd have no time to settle in if I were admitted off the list. Status checker did not reflect when my application was being reviewed.

William Mitchell: Accepted via status checker on 3/23. Received admissions packet later that week via mail.

John Marshall: Accepted via large envelope sent home on 3/19. Mom had to call me and tell me. Status checker indicated they had reached a decision earlier that week, and that my decision was being mailed.

Suffolk: Accepted via "Admitted Student Reception Invitation" on 3/15. Had to email Suffolk Admissions to see if I had, indeed, been admitted. Status checker was not updated.

New England: Accepted via large envelope on 3/14. Found out about a $7,500 merit scholarship through "Merit Scholarship Reception Invitation." Had to email New England Admissions to see what scholarship I received, as it did not come with the admissions packet. Received letter with scholarship information a few days later. Status checker was not updated.

New York: Rejected via small envelope on 3/14. Why? No idea. Oh well.

Hamline: Accepted via email on 3/11. Follow-up acceptance packet received a week later. Got 25% tuition scholarship, that I found out through an invitation to apply for an honors program, with the prerequisite of receiving a merit scholarship. Wow, law schools really aren't that great at communicating, are they? Had to email Hamline to find out whether I received a scholarship, and for how much.

Duquesne: Accepted via large envelope to my home address on 3/11. Mom had to call me to tell me. First acceptance, but a safety school.

American: Rejected via email on 3/7. Well that was a quick turn around, but I was expecting a rejection anyway.
