Additional info & updates

I'll be attending Minnesota.

Received e-mails of inquiry regarding continued interest at Fordham, Illinois, Washington and Lee, and William and Mary, and presumably would have been admitted off those waitlists had I replied..

American hit me up on July 11th asking if I wanted consideration, even though I never replied to their waitlist letter.

Final Score: 11-12 for a .478 batting average.

Good Luck!

We have similar numbers, and applied to a lot of the same schools. Good Luck Man!

deferred
Wednesday, January 25 2006 at 07:00 PM

the difference is, at least for minnesota, they have waves of admission, so when you're deferred, you're not good enough for the first wave, bust still have a shot for the second, and there are still seats left. Wait list means you're too good to reject, but they've given all the seats away, and you have to wait for people to withdraw. So being deferred is much better than wait listed.

Just wondering how you were notified about going complete by NYU.

Keeping options open

I applied to Vanderbilt because of uncertainty about where my girlfriend will end up. That uncertainty is still there, so I'll stick it out on the waitlist.

gl on your apps bud, looks like we're in the same boat. cept you finished your apps earlier than me and got to apply to a bunch more T14s, which will almost surely reject you...but there's always hope! regardless, i'm jealous =)

India volunteering
Sunday, November 27 2005 at 07:00 PM

Hey, thanks for the message! I'm pretty sure the volunteer work in India factored in significantly in some of my applications. I think it's just one of those things that distinguishes you from the pack. I didn't really write about it in my personal statement (although I may have mentioned it a little more in my yale 250 - we'll see how that goes), but I think it really boosted the soft factor points by a lot. If you don't mind saying, in what area did you do your NGO work? Good luck!

India
Sunday, November 27 2005 at 07:00 PM

I did various volunteer work in rural areas of Sikkim (nothing formal like with your NGO) - a lot of it involved teaching in the village schools, although sometimes there was more community development oriented stuff. I actually research microcredit programs in the US and abroad now - must have been cool to actually work in the field!

yeah

illionis is already up there, the deadlines have passed for W&L and W (3/1/06), and I've already applied to 31 schools so I'm not going to push applying late...we'll see what happens =)

India again
Sunday, November 27 2005 at 07:00 PM

Yeah, I definitely agree about the language skills - my Nepali only got relatively functional towards the end of my time out there. Anyway, good luck again! I'm sure you'll have some great choices by the end of the cycle!

UMN

I'm gonna visit UMN to see if I like it. But thanks, and congrats to you on all your acceptances!

Hey

Thanks for stopping by my profile. With regard to debate, I was a policy debater in college and taught high school kids in the urban debate league. Did you debate at all in college? I taught a girl at the Univ. of Missouri-KC debate camp who was from Minn. Her name was CJ and she was really a cool girl. Anyways, I'll be keeping an eye on your decisons now that I know we're number twins. Good luck!

MN or Wash

I will be at MN in the fall. With your current accepts are you leaning toward MN or MO? Congratulations and good luck.

Congrats

WUSTL monies...

dunno - I withdrew before they had a chance (they are slow). It was a whim to go back to STL in any case, and I'm looking forward to the U. I wish the $%&*@'s would offer something more considering my numbers...but...whadya' do?

Wash U
Wednesday, January 25 2006 at 07:00 PM

I got into Wash U off the wait list, and got some $, so I'm headed there. I see you chose to stay at U of M. Good luck!

Thanks
Wednesday, January 25 2006 at 07:00 PM

Good luck at U of M. I think Wash U gave me your scholarship, hehe. Thanks!

MN

MN was my 1st choice from the outset based on location and stats. The admit weekend was ok but not a significant source of info.
