Additional info & updates

I am applying straight out of undergrad.

I may have benefited from geographic diversity at the East Coast schools because very few students from my state attend Harvard, Penn, Columbia, etc.

$64k/3 years at Chicago.
~$76k/3 years at Penn merit scholarship (Levy Scholar Program - 1L Full tuition and half tuition for 2L and 3L).
$60k/3 years at Duke.
$72k/3 years at Wash U.
~$48k/3 years at Minnesota (Full resident tuition).

Northwestern's acceptance was a deferred acceptance, where they offered me $105k/3 years to take a year off and get work experience before attending.

I have declined my seat at Chicago, Columbia, Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Michigan, Minnesota, Northwestern, and Wash U. I have nothing but respect for Chicago, and it was a tough decision not to attend there.

4/1: I have committed to Penn and couldn't be more excited to start in the fall!

Yes, I interviewed at Northwestern through an alumni. He was nice and it went really, really well.

Why I Chose Penn
Sunday, May 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

Although I didn't expect to end up at Penn, I was so impressed by the school that I just couldn't turn it down. I had my decision narrowed to Harvard, Chicago, and Penn. Penn had a leg up in that it offered me the most money and the other benefits of the Levy Scholar Program. Beyond that, the facilities were beautiful, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the attention of the staff was unmatched by any school I appled to. Also, the joint certificate program with Wharton was an obvious draw. I was unimpressed by Harvard in almost every way but name recognition. It was tough to turn down Chicago, but I wanted to take a break from the midwest for a while. It was a hard decision, but I'm looking forward to starting at Penn in the fall.
