Additional info & updates

I am the worst procrastinator and I did everything really late in the admissions cycle, sometimes turning in the apps a few minutes after the midnight deadline. We'll see how this affects my chances.

Was going to apply to U. Miami as well, but took a tour with the Director of Admissions on 4-3 and her feedback was that the best I could hope for at this point was waitlist, so I decided not to submit and save myself the $60. Plus, I've been visiting Miami for years now and would much prefer to be in Cali.

Came back from Miami on 4-4-06 with a beige manilla envelope from USD and small one from Loyola. Turns out the Loyola envelope was just letting me know my Applicant ID Number (whew). USD envelope was my first admit! I am pretty shocked that they made a decision in 2 weeks--not that I'm complaining. Thanks to this admit, I'm not going to apply to U. Denver and Southwestern like I had planned.

Got two letter-size white envelopes on 4-8-06, one from Santa Clara with my admit and another from USD with $18k, first year only.

Complete from USF on 4-17-06 and from Hofstra on 4-18-06, both via email from school. Also got postcard from Hofstra on 4-19-06.

Ding from Fordham on 4-24-06 via online status check.

Got into both St. John's and Hofstra on 4-26-6. St. John's was a thick, white regular-size envelope and Hofstra was a thick white manila envelope. St. John's offered me $25,000/year, renewable if I place in the top half, and Hofstra offered me a full-tuition scholarship, renewable if I maintain a 3.25.

Wow, today's a good day for acceptances! Just got an email from USF notifying I was admitted. More info and any financial aid award to follow via paper mail.

Thick yellow manilla envelope from USF on 4-29-06 with acceptance. No mention of money.

Sent Santa Clara an email asking to be reconsidered for scholarships and heard back on 5-8-06 with an offer of a $14K Emery Scholarship, renewable if you reapply and are in the top 10-15%.

Got waitlisted from Hastings via online status check on 5-12-06.

Withdrew from Santa Clara today and planning to do so with USF next week, once I decide on a school.

Headed to SoCal on 5-13-06 to check out USD and Loyola.

Loved Loyola, much more than expected and liked USD less than I expected to *sigh*

Asked USD to reconsider my financial aid package and they turned my $18,000 renewable.

Came back from a two week vacation to a fat envelope from Loyola dated 5-30-06.

I also got into Hofstra with a late application, I am still waiting on a couple more schools. Are you considering Hofstra ? the $$$ is awsome.

Both Hofstra and St. John's have jumped way up my list because of the money. I'm leaning more towards St. John's though. I'm wondering if they would match my Hofstra offer too. Anyone tried this?

I think the February deadline was a priority deadline, whatever that means. I think I missed the deadline at every school I applied to and it didn't make a difference. Just goes to show they only care about numbers.
