That's really odd that you got waitisted at UIUC. According to all calculators and LSN index you should've been a shoe in. Any idea what's up?

I wish I knew. They were very nice about it, and if I take them at their word, it's because I applied so late in the cycle. I have to admit, however, that it has me second-guessing the content of my application: statements, recommendations, etc.

UIUC's just doing advanced yield protection. Why admit people who are likely to get in elsewhere when you can just waitlist and filter out those who are uninterested? I think this kinda crap is gonna get more prevalent as more adcomms try and game the system.
