Additional info & updates

11/18 - Second reccommender finally sent letter in...hopefully LSAC processes it quickly so I can go complete at the schools requiring two letters.

12/05/05: Georgetown status check went to Decision...I'm not very optimistic, I really hope I have a shot at American. I guess I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed.

12/12/05: My first acceptance! In at Pittsburgh! I never even received notification of a complete application and just received my acceptance via snail mail today. Letter was pretty fat in a regular size envelope.

I also submitted my Autumn Quarter transcripts to LSAC today; 3.85 this quarter brings me up to a 3.23. Wonder if the remaining schools will get the grades in time? I'm still waiting for Georgetown, it should be here this week.

1/1: Got my Georgetown letter today after returning from vacation. Didn't really expect to get in, was just testing the lower numbers shown for the PT program on US News.

1/6: Received a ding from Maryland in a small, white envelope this afternoon. Also received my second acceptance, via email, from Catholic.

1/17: Received a deferral from Northeastern today. Kind of surprised. I know my numbers aren't stellar, but definately good enough for Northeastern.

1/18: Rejection from American in a small, white envelope.

1/23: Deferral from Wash U, was definitely expecting a rejection so I guess this is a small step up.

02/06: Ding from GW in a small white envelope, hence the term "reach."

2/10: Received $9,500 merit scholarship from Catholic. Renewable if in top 25% of class.

3/18: I'm hungover as hell, but found a waitlist notification from Wash U in my mailbox. I'm pretty stoked about the waitlist, considering my numbers.

4/10: I've been thinking about sending in my deposits for Catholic and Pitt, but after visiting Pitt during their open house and Catholic's the next day I am entirely disappointed. I don't really feel like going to either school, and I am confident that if I retake the LSAT and take a class this time, I can raise my score by at least five points. So I'm doing it all over again next year. I withdrew all apps except WUSL, going to hold out on that one for some longshot admittance. Good luck everyone.

4/18: Got into American's School of International Service last week, might attend there and hope to gain admission to the law school the following year.

I admire your long shots and I know many admission officers and law professors (being half greek you have a whole lot of family) and you would be suprised at what they will look at outside the numbers...good luck!!

Thanks

For your note on my profile. I'm impressed that you're training for a triathlon--good luck and I'm rooting for your GULC acceptance!

American sent me an email letting me know that I was complete. The topic of the email was "Complete Application Acknowledgement."

Yeah, I am not really sure why it was on the list. I just had a feeling they wouldn't have too many black students and I think I read they give scholarships to minorities. Maybe I read wrong. I was also thinking of U Detroit Mercy, I will have to see how I do in the LSAT.

oh yeah...

Yep, I was slightly surprised myself, American was high on my list, but I've got some other great options, so overall I'm happy so far.

Shake it off

Not getting into American is not the end of the world. You go into Pitt, as did I, which is ranked just below American. Plus you have other great options availible

so sorry to hear about american - keep your hopes high - temple is a good school as well - what are you looking for in a school?

i am really surpirsed at your waitlist at temple...

hi
Saturday, November 12 2005 at 07:00 PM

what does it mean to get deferred - is that because you applied early?? or it like a waitlist - i cannot believe about temple...

Good American

Any facts or information to back that up or are you just a typical liberal crying/preaching without viable evidence. I'm getting tired of the left and their nonsensical bullshit. Give me something here. Plus, your cowardice mirrors the majoity of liberals; leave a username next time. You seem like a bitter "College Democrat" who doesn't know any better, and with arguements like the former, I'm certain you will graduate bottom of any law school class. Good luck, but not really.

what did you write your PS about?

hey
Tuesday, August 16 2005 at 08:00 PM

it looks like we're both considering pitt and catholic. Have you ever visited Pitt? I like Catholic and I live in DC so it's easy, but I'm not too thrilled (and have heard bad things) about their bar passage rate...so it's making me think more about Pitt. American is so touch and go this year it seems, so I'm still keeping my fingers crossed every day!

Still good
Saturday, October 01 2005 at 08:00 PM

Hey man, I'm inclined toward DC schools like you are, though I'd take a higher ranking school somewhere else if they take me. I did the DC school rounds (the three Georges, American, and Catholic), and so far got into Mason and Catholic. It's scary about AU, they seem unpredictable. Anyhow keep us updated on where you decide to go. And by the way, Republicans rock! My campus conservative activism is a large part of my application, I hope it helps me. Take care.

Dumb Fuck. Suck my dick you gay bastard!

loved what you told "good american"
Wednesday, February 01 2006 at 07:00 PM

that was hilarious and i agree with your insight 100%!!!! i hate it when liberals claim this country is "ruined", without citing any evidence. its ridiculous. i wish you luck in this very stressful law school application process.

Hey, thanks for your note. Much appreciated. Agreed, nothing in my life has been or will ever be like London. Were you at UCL, too? Anyway, best of luck in your application process!

Don't listen to "Good American", and don't use him as an example of the typical liberal. There's just as many ignorant and blame-happy righties in this country as there are of leftists. While DeTocqueville warned us of the "Tyranny of the Majority" in our democracy, I don't know if he could forsee the more dangerous "Tyranny of the Vocal Minority". I won't call your team a bunch of jesus-freaks, rednecks, racists and nazis if you promise not to call my team a bunch of ignorant America-hating gay pinko babykillers... Don't buy the hype.

pitt open house
Tuesday, February 14 2006 at 07:00 PM

What did you not like about Pitt? I also went to the open house and was slightly depressed but for me its just not the ideal location that I would want to practice.

pitt
Tuesday, February 14 2006 at 07:00 PM

yea I did not get a good vibe from the open house either. The area of Pittsburgh where the school is located I liked very much though. I also do not wish to practice in western Penn, but Philly would be fine. I am looking at Miami, but everyone I talk to up here in Michigan see it as inferior to Pitt. I also do not understand my Northeastern rejected us, luckily it is one rejection I dont care too much about because I really did not want to go there anyways and was just playing the numbers.
