ADDITIONAL INFO & UPDATES

Sent all my applications out on 2/11/19 (had a hectic road these past couple months and wanted to send them out earlier - aka before the new year - but at least they are all out before the deadlines)
*Also applied to both schools of PSU law (not just Dickinson, but this website just has the one school)
*my 3.98 GPA is on a 4.0 scale - converted to LSDAS 4.3 scale it is 4.27

My School Preference Ranking:

Tier 1 - Brooklyn, Penn State Law, Rutgers, Touro, American

Tier 2 - Cardozo, BU (added 3/1), Penn State Dickinson, St. John's

Tier 3 - Seton Hall, Drexel

Tier 4 - New York Law School, Albany

2/22 - My application for American randomly changed it's complete date from 2/12 to 2/22 (so I'm guessing that means UR2?)

2/28 - Got a call from Touro Law notifying me of my acceptance & the fact that they are offering me a scholarship of $22k / year ($66k total) & they are willing to negotiate.

2/28 - Rejected from NYLS via tracker status update (didn't really like that school anyway, applied because they chased me down the last time I applied to law school)

3/1 - Added BU to my applications (always was interested but wasn't sure if my numbers were enough to make it worth it). Also, finally learned how to do the choice system, so I updated my list with all my choices (since the school for PSU is Dickinson on this site, I gave it the 8 rank - PSU Law is actually my second choice).

3/5 - Received completion email from BU & rejection notification from Cardozo (sent via email)

3/6 - My Brooklyn application is finally complete! (was waiting forever for them to receive documentation from my prior schools)

3/8 - Received rejection emails from American and Rutgers & waitlist notification email from PSU University Park (going to submit a letter of continued interest & some additional LORs and addendums on Monday)

3/11 - Sent my material to Penn State and my recommenders & Brooklyn's status tracker updated to "In Review"

3/19 - Got an email from Seton Hall saying that my decision was ready & my tracker said I was denied (kind of glad that NJ is not an option anymore - with Rutgers and Seton Hall both out of the mix)

3/20 - Rejected from Drexel via status tracker

4/3 - Rejected from BU via status tracker (at this point, was not surprised at all... BU was a long shot as it was and the way this cycle is going, I only have a couple key schools in mind)

4/9 - Rejected from St. John's via email - seems to be the path of this cycle... still not losing hope for Brooklyn or Penn State UPark but at least I am going to law school if the worst case scenario does happen)

How did New York Law School reject you being that you have that LSAT/GPA?

Hi Paul - could be several factors: 1) they are bitter about the last time I applied (where they accepted me and I turned them down) and/or 2) I have a complicated personal history that some schools may not be interested in & just be surface level in their review of me

Thanks Lawschoolhopeful! Unfortunately, not a great test taker - that was my second attempt at the LSAT & it went up 4 points from my previous score (and my highest PT was a 159). Honestly, I am just happy to be in A law school haha - best of luck in the cycle!!!

  • Your cycle doesn't make much sense

Why would these schools all reject a 4.27 unless you re-applied to almost all of them and their YPing? Did you have a criminal/violent incident? There must be some serious red flags to not even get WL's.

Hey Kia! Sent you a PM with my opinion on the matter - tldr of the PM = some of them are reapplies and it very well may be YP and it could be because of the adcoms being very unforgiving when it comes to a troubled (non-violent and non-criminal) past.
