Extra Curricular Information

I didn't really use this site, but I figured I would update for the benefit of future applicants.

A "quick" about me, since the numbers don't tell much of the story:

I have a double major in Economics, Psychology, a minor in Mathematics, and some graduate work in Mathematics. I spent 5 years as an undergrad, 1 year as a pseudo-grad at a top 30 private university.

My grades trended upwards and peaked at the end. (Also, it should be noted that I received As in all of my hardest classes: Macroeconomics Honors, Econometrics, Financial Econometrics, Multidimensional Calculus, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Real Analysis Honors, General Topology. However, my psychology and other non-major grades were very poor, and I withdrew from at least 3 classes throughout college, along with all my classes in my junior Spring semester.)

The theme of my statement was learning from personal adversity.

I applied very late in the cycle (practically 3-5 days before any of the deadlines). I didn't apply to any T14 schools since their application deadlines had passed by the time I was sending mine out! I was skeptical anyways, since my LSAT was really the only redeeming quality of my application (although I didn't do as well as I planned! I was getting 175-178s on full practice exams, but I freaked out the night before the test and couldn't sleep -- I only got 3 hours of sleep before the exam. I also made the mistake of getting up and going to the bathroom without checking my answers on the 3rd section, which cost me 2 points).

My score is from when I took the December '07 test. Also, I had previously scheduled to take the February '07 test, but I changed my mind and forgot to cancel the score. This was reported as "absent" along with my score. Oops! This is apparently a no-no, see:

Additional info & updates

About the schools:
Minnesota was very quick to call to offer admission. Later, they offered a scholarship. They were by far the most active in contacting me and the most polite.

Boston University did not contact me until early July to inform me that I was on the waiting list.

Connecticut only sent one letter as an offer of admission.

Syracuse sent a lot of snail mail.

I assume American waitlisted me due to YP.

GW did not contact me until mid June to inform me that I was on the waitlist. About 2 weeks later, they called to offer.

I'm not really sure if I ever heard back from BC; definitely not through e-mail, although they may have sent a letter.

Anyways, I feel very fortunate about my admissions outcome and I am very grateful for GW's offer. I love both the school and the city!
