Brief history of my application experience, for people with similar numbers and softies.

I applied only (or almost only) to schools I actually would go to, so no schools off in the boonies. I selected a couple safeties, a couple targets, and the rest I considered reaches. Over all I ended up being accepted to more schools than I expected. Getting into UT from out of state was surprising and as of this moment I believe I am heading to Austin. My strategy was originally to hang on to the waitlists for the full duration but I guess I did not realize how hard it is to do that. The move to Austin will require planning, a lease, investment of $ and time...it is hard to imagine an offer off a waitlist overcoming this, but I'm not withdrawing to keep my options open.

I think my application process went very well and I think this has to do, in rank order, with 1) preparing for months for the LSAT, making it like a job. I'm no dope but practice made perfect for me on this test. 2) Keeping my grades up in college. This is not that hard. Go to class, ask questions, keep the drinking down and the love life stable. 3) Using LawSchoolDiscussion.org is key. Lots of advice. People answer your questions quickly and well. Everyone is reaching as high as they can, and this environment led me to keep up my preparation. A great tool for LSAT prep, and my applications would have been far weaker without the advice I got there from others in my situation. 4) I'll say the advice on law school applications at www.deloggio.com is wicked useful as well. She's great, tough love sort of advice.

Good luck!
