Extra Curricular Information

Average softs according to TLS, but people always seem to be impressed with my resume.

Strong upward grade trend - 3.8 over the last two years of UG.

All scholarship amounts listed are the total over 3 years.

Additional info & updates

10/28/09 - Under review at GULC.

11/5/09 - Admitted to William & Mary via status checker. Nice way to start the cycle.

11/5/09 - Under review at Iowa.

11/7/09 - Acceptance letter and scholarship info received from W&M today. Pretty underwhelmed with the $ offered, but with my GPA what can you expect.

11/9/09 - Under review at Duke.

11/10/09 - Complete and under review @ NYU. I expect the WL letter promptly in April. Also, it seems via TLS that those who went complete at UCLA on 10/30, like I did, got acceptance calls last night. I did not :( A lot of people who went under review at GULC on 10/28 went to decision yesterday and today. Again, I did not :( I really hope this cycle doesn't go as poorly for me as last one did.

11/11/09 - Admitted via phone call to UVA this morning!! My first T14 acceptance and complete validation that retaking and reapplying is better than settling for a school that you're not happy with! So excited! Also, I'm "under committee review" at Penn.

11/12/09 - Withdrew from Iowa today. Could not see myself attending under any circumstance.

11/17/09 - Interview request at GULC. Phone interview w/ an adcomm on Thursday.

11/20/09 - Had phone interview with GULC adcomm yesterday. Lasted 30 minutes and was completely centered around my low GPA and previous conduct issues. Went well I think. He said I should have a decision by next Friday. Also decided to shoot an app to Harvard today. Hey, why not?

11/25/09 - Under review at Chicago.

12/9/09 - Under review at HLS.

12/11/09 - It's been a long month w/o a single decision being communicated to me. I was left out of the recent batches of NYU, WUSTL, and BU admits. Oh well, such is the life of a splitter.

12/18/09 - Rejected @ Illinois via email early in the day... very strange. Chicago started making calls today (didn't get one) and will continue doing so into early next week. Accepted via email @ WashU.

12/22/09 - Decision Rendered @ GULC. It says DR for yesterday but I'm positive it didn't update until today. I'm feeling positive about this one.

12/26/09 - Xmas card acceptance from GULC. Rejection letter received from Cornell. It's the life of a splitter.

12/28/09 - Waitlisted/deferred at Chicago. I'm excited because I thought I was sure to be rejected. I'm flying out to interview w/ Dean Perry in two weeks and sending in an updated transcript. Also mulling over a February retake.

1/10/10 - Looks like I got rejected from Michigan. "Decision" notification on status checker and no access to the admitted students site. This one really stings. Looks like I have to NAIL the Chicago interview on Wednesday.

1/11/10 - Out at UCLA via snail mail. The bloodbath has begun.

1/12/10 - Out @ Penn via status checker. Decision mailed @ Vanderbilt.

1/13/10 - Chicago interview today. Went very well.

1/16/10 - Out @ Vanderbilt. A little annoyed because I interviewed and didn't get a fee waiver to apply. Other than that, don't really care. Also, withdrew from all schools that have yet to render a decision that I wouldn't consider even with a full-ride.

1/26/10 - Fall grade request email from NYU.

2/4/10 - Sent updated transcript to LSAC. LOCIs sent to NYU and HLS.

2/5/10 - Rejection email from HLS. Wonder if they even read my LOCI.

2/15/10 - In @ Notre Dame via email. FINALLY. Email also mentioned $20k/yr scholarship and admissions letter/binder en route via USPS. Hoping to get that scholly up-ed to full tuition.

2/23/10 - Updated transcript processed and sent out by LSAC. Let's see how Duke and Chicago react to the 4.0 for the semester and corresponding .02 LSAC GPA increase.

2/25/10 - Full Scholar in Law award from WUSTL. GULC scholarship phone interview with alumna tomorrow.

2/28/10 - Good conversation with GULC interviewer on Friday. Although I'm doubtful I'll get $$, I'll find out either way this coming week.Out @ Duke this afternoon via email. Annoyed it took them four months to ding me. Ah well...

3/3/10 - Email from Dean Cornblatt at GULC offering me a $20k/yr (no GPA requirement) scholarship. I'm beyond excited; I was shut out of the T14 last cycle and now I have a half-tuition scholly from a school that rejected me less than 12 months ago. Awesome.

3/10/10 - Still waiting to hear definitively from Chicago.

3/30/10 - Withdrew from William & Mary today. After requesting my scholarship from Notre Dame be made more competitive with WashU's they gave me an addition $8k/yr.

4/9/10 - Attending UVA barring Chicago waitlist movement. Cycle over!

4/20/10 - Oh hey, look at that. NYU decided to only wait 23 weeks, instead of a full six months, to render a decision on my application. Those guys are always so thoughtful!

Congrats on your first acceptance! I applied to W&M a couple days later than you, but my status is still "incomplete" even though under their own checklist, everything's in. Oh well, here's to waiting! Good luck with the rest of your cycle!

Thanks!

I didn't apply to many reaches because I'm more concerned with debt than reputation, esp having graduated in '09. Did apply to Duke and Cornell with fee waivers, but doubt I could afford either. I think my employment prospects will still be good at a lower ranked school with far less debt. At least that's how I'm hedging my bets in the admissions game lol.

I can't complain either, but I was a little underwhelmed as well, and surprised. Thought it would be closer to full tuish.

I'm an out-of-stater. Not sure how that played into the decision.

Congrats

Way to go on the UVa acceptance. It's nice to know that even if no more acceptances come we're going to a great law school!

Congratulations on UVA!

That must be a load off your chest getting into t-14! Good luck on the rest of your cycle, though it's a big success no matter what.

Congrats

May God bless you with many many more acceptances. Congrats on UVA!

Hey

I see you decided to withdraw from Iowa after all. What geo area are you looking to practice in?

Sup?

Hey, man. Has you status date for Penn changed lately?

Monday, September 14 2009 at 08:00 PM

Hey, congrats on UVA! I'm a fellow retake & reapplyer and I agree that it's the much better route than settling for a school you're not happy with. Good luck with the rest of your cycle--I'm sure things will go well for you.

Congrats on UVA! And

if your actually URM (a lot of Asians check that box for some reason) then I'm betting you're in at HLS.

Sorry about Illinois. I'm sure it stings but I applied to UVA ED and was rejected. That is a great acceptance and with your list of schools, I'm sure you'll get some more great acceptances to choose from. Good luck with your cycle!

Congrats on GULC

Grats on Gtown! Sorry (and surprised) about Cornell. If you don't mind my asking, what kind of URM are you?

Wait...
Monday, March 09 2009 at 08:00 PM

Are you in at Michigan then? When did you find out about scholarship information?

Please delete or edit your stats

I find it frustrating to see your info on all these scatter diagrams when it is so disingenuous. Please provide either real #s or delete. Your real numbers might be fabulous (good for you) or you might have gotten in because of qualities other than your numbers (exemplary role model for others) but as it is now, all your numbers show is indeed, you're slightlystoopid for wasting space on scatter diagrams that have zero value to anyone.

misleading stats
Monday, June 29 2009 at 08:00 PM

BUT I HAVE GOOD SOFT FACTORS!!

Useless
Friday, November 06 2009 at 07:00 PM

Your numbers skew the graphs that people actually use for research and analysis of their own chances. LSAT "within 20 points" is absurd, it's like a 180 posting that they have a 160. Please respect other people, anxious about their applications, and either change your numbers to something more realistic or delete them.

You know...

that I got your back

Michigan!
Sunday, July 06 2008 at 08:00 PM

wow I somehow missed this...congrats!!! Are you going to an ASW?

Sunday, July 19 2009 at 08:00 PM

Slightly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're messing up the graphs! They mean everything! Stop it! No! These scatter plot graphs, which are self-reported and unreliable to begin with, are the key to world peace and getting laid! Goblue87 and Rookhawk call me every night in a glass case of despair because of the graphs! Think of the children!

Friday, February 26 2010 at 07:00 PM

On a serious note, though, accurate scatter plots cure cancer. And my mom has cancer. Thanks for blowing it for me and my family.

hey

Congrats on your cycle so far and the scholarships! Leaning towards any particular school?
