*scholarship totals are for 3 years*
10/7 - and so the cycle begins. have most of my applications in. waiting on my letters of recommendation. hurry up professors! looking mainly to the east coast, but we'll see who offers me the most money.
11/1 - first acceptance of the cycle! university of richmond. got a personal phone call from the dean informing of their decision. also told that i'm looking at around $30,000/yr in scholarship money, but won't find out for certain until around march. wootwoot!
11/28 - received an email from michigan state requesting a "why MSU?" supplemental essay.
12/2 - in at pitt via status checker! says that acceptance letter was sent 11/29!
12/7 - received acceptance letter from pitt w/ $14,000 dean's scholarship. kinda bummed about the low number since pitt is one of my top schools. going to try to negotiate for at least a little more money.
12/8 - waitlisted at fordham. bummer. :( but accepted to kent via status checker!
12/9 - in at MSU with a full-tuition scholarship! hmm...could i be a spartan...?
1/3 - in at cardozo with a $30,000/yr scholarship!
1/10 - first rejection of the cycle...GW. kinda expected it, as i knew it was a stretch for me. still stings though!
1/14 - decided to apply last minute at the university of cincinnati. they've been bombarding me with e-mails for the past few months and i had a fee waiver, so why not?
1/18 - in at hastings via phone call from dean of admissions! told me my letter of acceptance would be sent out tomorrow. i kinda only applied to hastings as a back up in case i wanted to stay in CA, but the more i've been looking at the school, the more attractive it has become.
1/20 - got scholarship info from kent. $22,000/yr with no GPA requirement. not too shabby.
1/21 - forgot to update last week! in at lewis and clark with a $17,000/yr scholarship via snail mail. nice, but i will probably be withdrawing as $17,000 isn't nearly as much as i hoped for and l&c was not one of my top choices.
will probably start withdrawing from some schools in the next week or so.
1/25 - waitlisted at mason? wtf? i really thought i wouldn't have a problem getting in there. oh well...it feels like i'm leaning more towards hastings anyway.
1/30 - in at UW via email! wow...i honestly thought i didn't stand a chance there, especially after getting dinged from mason. this kinda throws a crimp in my plans, as i thought i had my decision narrowed down...
2/2 - withdrew from kent, michigan state, cincinnati , and lewis and clark today. sad, but it is time to pare down the list of options. especially leaning towards hastings, cardozo, or UW, pending my apps at boston and davis.
2/7 - rejected at minnesota. kinda expected. oh well.
2/22 - rejected at BC. again, kinda expected. attended cardozo's ASD this past weekend. i must say, i was impressed, not only by the school, but by the city as well. also told by numerous students that i should try to negotiate more scholarship money from them. if i could get more, that would definitely make moving to NY a real possibility.
3/6 - found out i was selected as a john marshall scholar at the university of richmond! the program seems amazing, and the money is great. now richmond is back on my radar....
3/17 - withdrew my withdraw from lewis and clark. their rise in the rankings coupled with the fact that some of my family moving up to portland has made me reconsider them.
3/20 - negotiated for more money with cardozo. sent an email a couple of weeks ago and was told to send my offers from other schools for review. i hadn't sent them yet, but today when i checked my email, i had one with the new offer. haha. i guess the drop in the rankings and their potential law suit has made cardozo desperate to rope in the students.
3/22 - waitlisted at william and mary. jesus that took forever! i applied back in october! i had forgot i had even applied there, so it's no big loss. withdrew my application.
3/26 - FINALLY heard back from davis. this school, by far, as given me the biggest run around. at this point, it would take good scholarship to make me consider them.
4/2 - wow...davis just gave me $25,000/yr in need/merit based aid! was not expecting that much at all! seriously considering davis now. also, withdrew from cardozo, pitt, and richmond the other day. really sad to withdraw from richmond, but the cost of moving across country was just too prohibitive.
4/20 - put my seat deposit down at lewis and clark. decided it was the best choice for me. they also bumped my aid up by $5K a year. i have family moving up to portland and am going to be living for free, pretty much, so that was ultimately what pushed me to LC.
Congrats on your acceptances! It will be hard to turn down that $$$ from MSU!
