UPDATE: I did really well my first semester of law school, and ranked in the top 2% of my class. I applied to Georgetown (Early Action) as a full-time transfer student, and I was just accepted. It looks like I might be heading out east next year!

Additional Information

All scholarships are per-year.

11/14/08:
Well, my third letter of recommendation just arrived at LSAC yesterday; it showed up less than 2 hours after the recommender sent it, via fax (which is so much better than the 2 week wait for mail). Now I am ready to sit back and watch my cycle begin. I threw my applications out pretty evenly across the board. I feel that I have a good mixture of reach, medium and safety schools. Hopefully I will see some great opportunities open up.

12/13/08:
I just called home and found out that Cornell sent my rejection there. I figured that it was worth it to at least try! Who knows, maybe one of my other "super reaches" might work. Now I'll never ask myself "what if". =p

I am currently in London right now doing an internship. My parents will be phoning me about acceptances/denials.

I just received a call today about my first acceptance, to McGeorge! I'm so excited! On the letter was a personalized note from the admissions dean. Also, I received a scholarship for $7,500 per year, plus books. This is an option that I will seriously consider.

1/23/09
Well, I was rejected at UC Davis. I would say that I knew this was coming, but I probably applied to 5-7 schools where I knew that I had no chance at, and I don't want to say that every time. I'm pretty sure that I will get 4 solid options out of all the schools that I applied to.=p

1/28/09
This too was a long shot. I was rejected at George Washington. So now I've been rejected at 3 of the 5-7 schools that I was planning on being rejected at. I'm still hoping for at least ONE surprise! we will see...

1/31/09
I just received an acceptance from Western State University. I am in shock, because they also gave me a full-tuition scholarship. That means that law school could be FREE! Wow. I originally sent in my application telling myself that I would only consider it if I received some money. Now I have to consider it. And I will. This is another serious option. What makes it even more enticing is that I already have a job lined up, so it doesn't matter where I study. $100,000 of free schooling might be a good thing. However, I am very concerned about being admitted to the Bar in Oregon with a degree from them. I will have to look into that...

2/8/09
My parents told me about yet another rejection last night. My "reaches" are quickly running out. So long Hastings!

2/10/09
Finally! Another acceptance. Seattle University sounds like a wonderful opportunity!!! I found out via the status checker this morning.

2/12/09
Gonzaga! With $15,500 a year! All that I need to do to maintain the scholarship is keep a 2.8 GPA. The location of the school is also great. It would place me halfway between my wife's family in Canada and my family in Oregon.

I have a feeling its going to be very difficult to make a decision. Right now I'm in London, and there is no way that I will be able to visit the schools before I go. I don't know how I will decide.

2/16/09
I just received an email from Lewis and Clark informing me that I'm deferred. They say that they will review my application again and make a decision in April or May. I seriously hate waiting! At least I have not been outright rejected.

3/6/09
I am really frustrated! I haven't heard anything back for almost a month now. I will need to make my deposits at the end of the month, and I really can't make a decision yet without hearing from the last few schools. I have a feeling that since they are taking so long to reply it must signify that I am neither an auto-admit or auto-reject. So, we will see.

3/9/09
No more frustration! I was accepted to the University of Oregon!!!!!!!!!!! Honestly, next to getting into a T14, this is as good as it gets since I want to practice in Eugene. This is the most exciting acceptance that I've received.

3/11/09
I was accepted to Willamette with $8,000 per year. This is great! But, Oregon is still cheaper - even without a scholarship. And it is is ranked higher.

3/13/09
I was rejected at UCLA. I'm still not sure why I applied. I honestly had no chance of getting in. In fact, I never even sent my FAFSA into them. However, like I stated when I first started this, at least I will never wonder "what if?".

3/23/09
Crap. The online status site says that a decision was rendered at BYU. I got a sick feeling in my stomach when I read that. I am not really optimistic about BYU, but if I am accepted, it might trump all the other acceptances. If not, oh well.

3/31/09
Rejection from Hawaii and Utah this weekend, and a rejection from BYU today. The cycle is almost over!!!

Hey. We have similar numbers, and I've applied to a couple of the same schools. Why is Oregon your first choice? I almost applied there but decided not to after all. Good luck to you! – Lauren

Hey sorry it took me so long to answer but I just updated my profile. I got my waivers through LSAC. The only school that did not offer one was Emory.
Good Luck! danielfgator

i think if i get into pittsburgh, seton hall, or case western, then i'll end up at one of those schools. also very interested in syracuse, but hoping for a decent-sized scholarship to go there. wisconsin is my dream, but very unrealistic. as for the other schools...it'll just depend on so many factors, like job prospects, scholarships, etc. you know the drill...

how about you? where do you hope to end up? snaps
seattle!! Tuesday, February 10th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Nice going on Seattle. That is a great opportunity. What are you thinking now with 3 acceptances? seth1492

Wow! Gonzaga with money! Congratulations. This really will be a tough call. Provo is cold and snowy but things are good. Hopefully the letters keep coming! Congrats again, you are having a great cycle. seth1492
