congrats on BLS, lookin at your EC's don't think ill make it, i've been waiting FOREVER for an answer from BLS. I'm in LI too, and I was wondering what scholl you'll go to from the current acceptances? (Mason and Maryland seem to be the highest ranked).

Wake
Sunday, October 23 2005 at 08:00 PM

I applied to Wake back somewhere in late October or early November. I just recieved a plain white envelope today notifying me of the waitlist status.

good luck
Thursday, March 09 2006 at 07:00 PM

Good luck with William and Mary, and thank you for the kind words

bu/brooklyn
Thursday, June 09 2005 at 08:00 PM

Yeah BU was a bit of a bummer but everything is so competitive this year. How are you feeling about Brooklyn? They didn't give me any money but I really like them.

Im a bit ambivalent about wake. Certain things about it make it great and others are kind of annoying. I think I wouldve been happier with my exp there if i didnt go there via transfer. The campus is awesome; its very country club-ish. Lots of rich kids attend there as well, and they mostly come from up your way. (EG my house is about 100 yrds from the beach and i was one of the poorer kids there.) Most of the faculty is awesome and usu are interested in getting to know you. A new president just took over for the school so administration might change a bit, but mostly they go out of their way to help you. In comparison to public schools, the admin here is great with making sure that you are squared away. The only gripes Ive had dealt with course requirements. The town of winston is pretty conservative, so that didnt bode the best with me either, but best described as southern. Also, there arent too many entertainment options in winston either, which can suck. Most of the entertainment for ug stems from greek stuff, and im not into frats. Most set up entertainment comes from wake athletics... kudos to the acc. The intramural stuff is pretty big at wake too. If you care about diversity (blacks, hispanics, asians, etc), there isnt much of that here. However, its not like youre going to school with a bunch of kids from nc, which is why i wanted to go to wake over unc. A lot of publics go with in-staters, which can make things a continuation of hs. Not much of that, but ppl get pretty cliquey at wake. If there's anything else you want to know bout wake, just shoot me a line.

Howdy
Monday, January 30 2006 at 07:00 PM

The waitlist notice from Wake was just a letter with a single sheet of paper explaining that I would be notified by late April/early may and that they could not elaborate more than that. It had an odd and rushed feel about it.

Hey!
Wednesday, January 04 2006 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on all your fine acceptances as well :) Is there any one school that you 're leaning towards? GMU is looking pretty good to me (not to mention their nice upset against UNC today) but I'd really like to hear back from WM. Good luck with the rest of your apps!

hey
Monday, March 13 2006 at 07:00 PM

hey, its alright, i was expecting rejections from the top schools, i thought my gpa would have gotten me into boston though... ehh.... i think its giving me an edge up on a lot of applicants with similiar scores... i didnt go to post, im over at hofstra

Just a heads up
Thursday, January 05 2006 at 07:00 PM

Before you go to Baylor, you may want to visit. Although it is a very well respected school... My friends who go there all agree that Waco is a horrible place to live-- But in the meantime, think positive thoughts about Duke.

hofstra :)
Monday, March 13 2006 at 07:00 PM

hey, ill be withdrawing from hofstra and most other places soon, i just want to hear from everywhere and have time to think it all over before deciding on everything...

BLS
Monday, February 20 2006 at 07:00 PM

It's March 21 and still no response from BLS, admissions office says they're still REVIEWING my app. April 1 is the deposit deadline for SJU Law. GRRRR. Your question, SJU is where I went undergrad.

Grats
Tuesday, February 14 2006 at 07:00 PM

Grats to you too on GM thor...I wish you luck on your other choices =) 20 to apply to is a lot...I just went nuts overboard I think lol.

UNC deposit
Sunday, October 30 2005 at 07:00 PM

I think there are different deposit dates depending on when you're accepted. I was accepted March 16th and my $100 deposit was due April 17th. I assume out of state deposit amount would be the same. GOOD LUCK! You look competitive to me! Let me know what happens=)

On all your acceptances so far. I hope you get some more good news before your cycle ends. I know how stressful it can be waiting to hear back from schools, but you'll be SO bored when your cycle finally ends :) Thanks for your words of encouragement and best of luck with the rest of your cycle!

thanks
Monday, January 02 2006 at 07:00 PM

thanks so much for your input. good luck with everything. i can't believe the deposit deadline is creeping up already.

George Mason
Saturday, March 04 2006 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on George Mason! I loved their law building when I went to visit. I should have applied, but I didnt think I would get in. Good luck there!

Wake
Tuesday, December 06 2005 at 07:00 PM

It says on the letter I was placed on the wait list at Wake. No where did it mention being deferred. Good luck.

Hofstra
Thursday, January 05 2006 at 07:00 PM

Hey, I read your post about Hofstra. Why don't people seem to like it? I heard a rumor that Playboy rated Hofstra one of the hottest student bodies. What else can you tell me about the law school or campus in general?

Deferred at wake
Sunday, December 11 2005 at 07:00 PM

Hey- I was deferred at wake as well. I think it is better than the waitlist. As of now, if you were accepted on April 30th ,would you go?

Thanks
Thursday, January 05 2006 at 07:00 PM

Hey, thanks for all the info on Hofstra. I would definitely like to visit the campus sometime this spring. It turns out I was just in NYC earlier this month to visit NYLS. When I make plans to see it I will email you. Thanks again and congrats on GMU. I'm jealous! Have you decided on it or are you gonna wait out GW? I got waitlisted at Miami and they are definitely one of my top choices? Any idea what anyone can do on a waitlist besides "wait"? I've heard that some schools accept the majority of people from their waitlist but others don't. Like Tom Petty says, "the waiting is the hardest part."

Why I picked UMD over Wake
Thursday, December 01 2005 at 07:00 PM

Since you asked, I picked UMD over Wake for three main reasons. First, I'm a MD resident so I'm saving a bunch by going to Maryland. Second, I went to undergrad at UNC and I'm kinda tired of the Raleigh, Durham, Winston scene. Thirdly, I'm not really too into the rankings (Wake and UMD are I think only 3 spots apart on the new rankings list that's about to come out). So yeah, I mean Wake is a great school, just not the fit for me and I don't think that Maryland is really a "step-down" from Wake.

Follow up
Thursday, December 01 2005 at 07:00 PM

Well, from what I know, Wake has only a slight edge in reputation over Maryland (they're both regional so you've gotta figure out where you want to practice). Plus UMD is much cheaper than Wake, even with being in a city. I'm from Chapel Hill so I've been to Winston-Salem a bunch and it's nothing to write home about. It's a great school, I'd just rather be in a place where there's a busier nightlife and just more opportunities in the city (not that Baltimore is the greatest or anything). But if Wake's your choice you can't go wrong with picking there!

W&M
Tuesday, February 14 2006 at 07:00 PM

W&M waitlist was a thin letter, it's contents were to the point and brief. "Dear ..., After a thorough review of your app to W&M, we have placed you on our waiting list." The rest of the letter is about high quality of the apps, can't accept them all, yadda yadda. A form is enclosed to stay on the WL. I sent it back immediately. As for top choice...that's a tough one =) I'll know after I visit the schools. Your numbers are much stronger than mine are. I think you have a good shot. Good luck buddy =)

Your post
Thursday, December 01 2005 at 07:00 PM

Yep, I thought thats what happened. MD is like 42 and Wake is 39 (dunno what happened to them). Good luck on William and Mary. I just got waitlisted there (but no that still wouldn't change my mind). And look into UNC. I went to undergrad there and it is an absolutely beautiful place with a quite nice law school! Good luck!

w&m
Sunday, August 14 2005 at 08:00 PM

yeh. i'm guessing in-state plays a role in their decisions. it's a state school, so i'd be surprised if it's not a factor. all that being said, i'm glad i'm from va. no way i woulda gotten in if i wasn't. word. peace.

nothing yet
Monday, February 20 2006 at 07:00 PM

Nope, no response from BLS. I wonder if missing the deposit deadline means any realistic chances of acceptance are out the window. I wouldn't leave NYC, I love it too much. Anyways, sucks that I only have ONE option and nothing else. Would've been nice to be able to choose. Pretty much lost hope on BLS, been waiting for that email for too long now.

Confused
Wednesday, March 08 2006 at 07:00 PM

How do you know you'll hear decisions from W&M, W&L, and Duke by the end of the week?? I"m still waiting to hear from Duke and some others...should I call them or does it say that they send out all decisions by a certain date? I sound so clueless right now.... Oh and congrats on your acceptances!

GMU
Wednesday, October 12 2005 at 08:00 PM

I'll see you in the fall.

GMU
Monday, April 03 2006 at 08:00 PM

First off, congrats on GMU, they're very close to the top of my list as well. If you take a look at my profile, you'll see we're in the same boat and I was wondering what pushed you towards GMU? I'm about to go down there and take a look at the schools myself, but I'd love to hear from you about it. Good luck with your WLs!

heard from unc?
Wednesday, April 05 2006 at 08:00 PM

I think that's where I'm heading....I loved the visit.

Re: WFU
Tuesday, August 16 2005 at 08:00 PM

hey, Most grad students live off campus. I'd guess the drive time is roughly 5 mins to campus. Some apts are close enough to bike as well. I never lived off-campus, but I remember hearing 1br ranged from $550-700. If you end up choosing wake, I could give you some suggestions. The law school is off to the eastern portion of the campus. (Campus is gated btw). Most buildings on the campus are fairly new in comparison to most schools. They try to make it look like some of those old prestigeous NE schools, but the buildings are obviously much newer. Oh and I think you get a laptop if you go to wake too... just a side perk really. Anyways, I bet this will all become negligible if you get into Fordham or GW. Bests with your decision

Thanks!
Monday, December 26 2005 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for you kind words and congrats on your acceptances.

hey thanks!
Wednesday, October 26 2005 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the encouragement! I appreciate it -- congrats on George Mason. I'm hoping to hear from Tech by the end of the month...the waiting stinks. I'm probably going to visit Regent around mid-May. I'll have to get a huge scholarship to go there, but we will see! Best of success to you!

hofstra
Wednesday, January 04 2006 at 07:00 PM

hi, i've noticed your posts about hofstra. being a native californian, i have my reservations about making the big move, but i'm def interested in the transactional studies program and im open to change. do you have any words of wisdom/advice/comments about the school in general? or the law school, quality of life, competitiveness, job placement, etc.? anything would be helpful...congrats on GMU!

thanks
Wednesday, January 04 2006 at 07:00 PM

thanks for all the info about hofstra! i'll be sure to e-mail you if i have any more questions.

GWU
Monday, April 03 2006 at 08:00 PM

i'd be happy to answer your questions. i was notified by a phone call from the director of admissions. as for my gpa/lsat, i had their median scores for each (slightly under for gpa). i hope that helps. good luck.

wake
Saturday, December 10 2005 at 07:00 PM

I got an e-mail this afternoon instructing me to call admissions to discuss admission. Soon after I called, and was informed that there was a seat for me if I was still interested. I'm spending the weekend thinking about it, and will call to find out about the deposit and such Monday morning.

Wake
Saturday, December 10 2005 at 07:00 PM

Called this morning to let them know I'm still interested. My seat deposit must be in by May 11. They're FexEx overnighting my packet to me today. Good luck to you!

Monday, February 20 2006 at 07:00 PM

hey, sorry haven't been on in awhile. I think being categorized as "asian" instead of "indian" hurt me a lot. Should be a separate category for "South Asian" or something like that. You can email me directly and I'll tell ya where I'm going to end up. Have you decided yet?

oh
Monday, March 13 2006 at 07:00 PM

and i will withdraw from GMU when I have everything in writing from GWU

GMU v Wake
Thursday, December 22 2005 at 07:00 PM

Hi there! Well, I don't know anything at all about GMU, but I'll tell you what I can about Wake. Your decision should rest primarily on where and what you would like to practice. Wake has an excellent rep in NC, and does pretty well in the rest of the SE. They've also got a nice rep for corporate/business law. As for the community feeling, that's one of the primary reasons I chose Wake--bc it's such a small, close school, which I love. I mean, the adcoms already know exactly who I am and i haven't even started classes yet. :-) It's also a fairly conservative school, which may or may not be a good thing to you (but seeing as you're Catholic, it's prolly an attraction). I can't thikn of anything else off the top of my head, but send me an email if you've got more specific questions, I'll be glad to help. :-)

one more thing
Thursday, December 22 2005 at 07:00 PM

Long Island to NC is gonna be a big change (I used to live there and visit often). So keep that in mind, too. :-)

wondering...
Monday, February 13 2006 at 07:00 PM

if you actually know anything about Southern New England School of Law or if you were just stating that as a general rule. In New York, Connecticut, and Massachusettes you do not have to go to an ABA school to sit for the bar. I am considering SNESL because many public defenders and judges graduated from there in the Bay Area.

parking.
Wednesday, July 13 2005 at 08:00 PM

I have no idea about parking. But i lived there one summer and I would recommend not bringing a car. At least not if you are planning on living by Foggy Bottom. Some areas of DC aren't so bad to park . but just live near a metro and forget the car.

GW
Saturday, October 22 2005 at 08:00 PM

I have not officially visited, but I lived in DC last summer and know the area pretty well. The "campus" is in a very nice part of DC. Mail that deposit in yo

Wow, good lsat story
Thursday, March 16 2006 at 07:00 PM

That has got to suck. BUT, at least you got into GW. It's got to make up for a little bit of injustice you faced...right? You think you're going to go there?

Wake
Thursday, December 22 2005 at 07:00 PM

When do you think you'll hear from them? Or have you decided on GW?

Hofstra
Thursday, January 05 2006 at 07:00 PM

Hey, I just want to let you know that I sent my deposit in to Hofstra. I visited it last week and kind of liked it. It had much more of a campus than I had imagined. Also, the town of Hempstead seemed nice enough. Now my biggest task is finding a place to live. Someone mentioned I should check out Long Beach. I guess a lot of law students live there and commute. What do you know about it? Any suggests of other places? I'm not crazy about the idea of living on campus. Ideally, I'd want to find a place that is in a downtown area (ie. walking distance to restaurants, train station etc.) and not more than 40 min drive to campus. I'll probably have more questions about the school. Your advice will be appreciated. Thanks!

P.S.
Thursday, January 05 2006 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on GWU. That's a great school. I'm jealous!

Where im livin'
Saturday, October 22 2005 at 08:00 PM

Probably I'll be getting an apartment. I don't yet know where or with whom. How bout you?

congrats to u too!
Friday, March 25 2005 at 07:00 PM

thx man.. sent my deposit in today actually!

no prob
Friday, March 25 2005 at 07:00 PM

a $200 deposit is owed for us who got in via waitlist by May 31st. Then a second deposit of $800 is due by June 15. in the packet you'll receive they'll be a form where u check that u want to attend and that you've enclosed a check for 200

GW
Wednesday, July 13 2005 at 08:00 PM

$200 is due May 31st. $800 is due June 15th.

Thanks
Tuesday, March 07 2006 at 07:00 PM

Yeah, I like American Studies because it incorporates all subjects. I hope that gives us an edge in law school

GW
Wednesday, December 14 2005 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on GW! Things DO work out for the best! Still hope that you can join at W&L :) Although, DC is a fantastic town.

Hey
Friday, January 20 2006 at 07:00 PM

Thanks! I've already committed to GW in my mind, Columbia is merely a formality. BTW, have you started looking for housing in DC?

GW
Sunday, November 13 2005 at 07:00 PM

Hey, you got into GW! I'd seriously consider trading you for the W&L spot if I can. They are ranked better and in a real city. Congrats!

I heard
Wednesday, August 17 2005 at 08:00 PM

yeah I heard the Kaplan was bad. I might try either test masters or the lsat 180. I will also buy the lsat for dummies I'll do whatever it takes for me to raise my score.

WM vs GW
Monday, February 13 2006 at 07:00 PM

Hey, I just saw your comment asking why I chose WM over GW. For me, I feel like my quality of life would be better at WM. It seemed like a really friendly, laid back school in a smaller town. I can afford to buy a house, instead of live in an apartment (a big deal, since I have 2 dogs and my finance needs a home office from which he can work). The commute is likely going to be 30 minutes or less, instead of 2 hours. And I'll leave with far less debt. I think that will allow me to pursue work like being a prosecuter at a lower pay scale, as opposed to GW, where I would be locked into trying for biglaw just to pay off the loans. At WM biglaw is an option, not a fait acompli. Thanks for asking and DC is an awesome city! I hope you enjoy GW. :)

thanks...
Saturday, May 20 2006 at 08:00 PM

for the words of advice. Im actually strongly considering GWU now. If I don't get back to my diagnostic scores on the Sept. LSAT my list will be revised. -stormandstress

thanks...
Sunday, July 02 2006 at 08:00 PM

for your message, i sent an email...

Hey, thanks!
Wednesday, July 12 2006 at 08:00 PM

Definitely hoping for some good news from the good Dean. I will probably bug you with questions if I'm lucky enough to get in! Thanks for leaving the address.

how long did it take
Wednesday, November 29 2006 at 07:00 PM

i was pretty shocked by ND too! i'm definitely still interested in GW; how long were you on their waitlist for?

GW
Tuesday, August 15 2006 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the advice about GW. I am definitely looking into them because I want to do patent law, but I am also thinking about taking a couple years off to get my engineering license. If I take some time off I am sure I will be able to raise my LSAT a bit, whice should give me a better chance at schools. Who knows. I kind of hope I don't get off the WL for GW because I don't want to have to make the decision on whether or not I will being going to LS next year. Thanks again.

GW
Wednesday, September 20 2006 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the congrats. I take it you're a current student? Enjoying your experience? I have a couple friends who are 1L's and they love it.

Congrats!
Friday, March 02 2007 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on completing your first year at GW. I noticed you were on the W&M waitlist last year. When did they notify you? I had a chance to really check them out and loved it. My number are similar to yours ...I wonder if I have a shot...
