OH Hu....
Monday, December 19 2005 at 07:00 PM

You know, I really expect nothing less from my school. This is the standard, I was hoping it didn't really apply to HULS, but I guess it does. The thing that I am pissed about is me not being able to cop my usual "I pay 25gs a year!" attitude and get everything done like that :0) Kill them with kindness is the saying right? :) That would be nice about that fee. I still want to get in and if the offer is right then I just may join you at HU...I assume that is where you are going at this point? If so ( puts on HU alumni hat) Howard is GREAT experience and there is nothing like the main campus' yard on friday from 12-3 pm. To go there is truly a privilege and I still feel that way despite the b.s....it just kinda comes with being accepted to the TOP HBCU ( don't let anybody tell you otherwise) Congrats btw!!! What does their admit packet look like? I imagine it is amazing...

UNLV

Hi TJ, yes, my wife and I are both going to the open house on April 1. She's not going to LS, but I think it will be important for her to get a picture of what ls is going to be like. I am looking forward to this event. I wish I could go FT, but as the primary provider, I must continue to work FT. I may try to take extra classes here and there (i.e. summer) in order to finish in under 4 years. If, of course, doing so is allowed. In any case UNLV presents the best opportunity for me, as my current employer has operations in the area that I should be able to transfer into. I plan to buy a home in Henderson, making my commute about 30 minutes, as opposed to 1.5 hours if I were to stay in the Los Angeles area. Also, you really can't beat the price. Good luck with the rest of yopur apps.

congrats on HOWARD..

a travelin' man...LOL You're just poppin up all over the place. How do you like UNLV? You're doing an official tour or just checking it out on your own? Well, I hear ya about the money. If it comes down to two schools you know you'd do well in and only one is offering the money, hey do what you have to do. I'm sure you'll make the right decision. Hope to hear from ya soon about your 'adventures'. :-)

GSU & Howard

Yeah, I was checking GSU site like that too LOL. Anyway, I hear you on the roommate thing. Like I said, I don't want that either, but...If you REALLY want HUSL, I say look a bit more for an apt and go where you really want to go. They are giving you money, probably not enough, not sure what your finances look like, but maybe you can find something. Did you look in the bordering areas of DC, like in MD or something? I know you've probably thought about all that, and as much as I'm a lil' angry at HU right now (LOL), I'd rather see you go where you really want to be. Anyway, I'm sure you're not just settling for the others either though. I'm sure you have just as much interest but I just want to make sure all bases were covered. :-) Well, I guess I'll wait and see what you decide. Oh, you still have that email address? Just checking. Make sure we keep in touch.

UNLV Open House
Wednesday, January 18 2006 at 07:00 PM

Hi TJ, The open house was pretty cool. It was very casual. I spoke with an admissions guy about matriculation and what it takes to establish residency. I also spoke with a financial aid person. I had a few questions about that process, as I have never applied for financial aid before. They were re4ally nice and very helpful. I then met with a variety of student organization reps, and was given a semi-private tour by an alumnus who current practices in the field of cri8minal defense. She was awesome. She gave me her card and invited me to call anytime if I have any questions. There were not a lot of prospective students at the event (I am not surprised as they have not admitted a lot of people yet and the student body is relatively small anyway. I also met with the professor that runs the law clinic program. She was great as well. I am going to send in my seat deposit this week. I have liked this school from the beginning and even before the visit I was pretty sure that this would be my best option. I am even more convinced of that now. It just seems to fit my personal circumstances so well. I just have a few more details to work out before I go ahead and withdraw from my other acceptance(s), but UNLV seems like the one for me. The alumnus that i met was very encouraging about the LV legal market. She expressed that the city is very proud of the school. Good luck with your remaining app and your decision process.

Hey hey...now you got a whole lot more offers than me...LOL. Man, you'll probably get your packet soon saying oh Please come here, we'll give ya 15K...LOL. Seriously though, I just made a mistake and put in one semester's worth of dough instead of the whole thing. Still, you'll probably be accepted though, I'm telling you. Then you'll have your clean sweep and can just make a decision as you please...LOL. I need to send in my deposit though. I think I'll do that this week.

Yep...

very close! Quite a nice/convenient location I must say... ;-)

Cal Western
Friday, December 16 2005 at 07:00 PM

Well, you've done quite a lot so to be in a school in the state/area you'd rather stay in, AND have money in your pockets...hmmm, can't argue with that. I'm sure your choice will be a perfect fit for you. As for me, I was waiting for Southwestern, in LA, but got waitlisted then I was waiting on Rutgers...just got waitlisted there too. So, I have to start making decisions as I don't want to keep giving away money for seat deposits...LOL. So, in essence, no, I'm no closer to a decision...LOL. I will try to narrow it down soon though.

oh yeah,
Friday, December 16 2005 at 07:00 PM

Forgot. Well, then I guess that's why you haven't heard from them. Well, let me know when ya hear something. I'm trying to get down there at the end of this month to scope out the neighborhoods and the school of course. I'm also waiting on one other school. So, if I don't hear from them by mid to late July, then it's definitely Coastal for me. I'll keep ya posted. Hope all is well otherwise.
