bringing this back out to help the future generations. :)

now that my cycle is OVER (pending any miracles from H, which isn't going to happen) i can offer some insight.

apply early. this wasn't possible for me due to my poor performance on the october lsat, requiring me to scramble for the december test, but if it's at all possible for you, DO IT. i bet i would have avoided WLs at uva, penn, and maybe even nyu if i had applied before thanksgiving.

the application process is a crapshoot. don't take it personally. i was one of the first WL'd applicants to get offered a spot at chicago, yet was dinged at columbia a few weeks later. boalt, with one of the lowest admissions rates in the country, accepted me within a month of my application. i have no idea why.

so, some dean might see something they like, another might not. it happens. at the end of the day there are a million other people out there with your numbers.

i'm glad i applied to as many schools as i did, because it gave me plenty of options and the chance to leverage schools with each other (it's a dirty game).

i'm heading to UVA! and i couldn't be happier about it. good luck to everyone in the future.

Congrats on all of your acceptances. Please withdraw from NYU and Columbia if you really do not want to go there. Virginia is so much better and has a better quality of life!
