Extra Curricular Information

Cycle's over! Here's some info in case anyone is in a similar spot next year:

-Wrote and undergrad thesis and got and Honors Degree. Summa Cum Laude.

- Study abroad program in India and summer study program in Washington DC.

- Summer internship in Congress.

- Year long internship for academic credit with a major nonprofit.

- Founded and lead a campus organization.

- Active in several honor societies and campus clubs.

- Three LOR's from professors.

- A small typo in my personal statement made me freak out and think I wasn't going to get in anywhere. But it didn't seem to matter. If this happens to you - don't lose faith!

- Applied really late in the cycle.

Additional info & updates

A few dates might be off by a day or so because I update way after the fact sometimes.

01-21 - Big package from Duke! First Acceptance! Yay!

01-29 - Call from ...oh gosh did I really forget his name? Oh well, in at Virginia!

02-08 - Status check went to decision at Georgetown

02-10 - Seriously, Georgetown, do you have to send out acceptances in a small envelope? Quit playin games with my heart. Also, whoever wrote that little note at the bottom of my letter has the handwriting of a fifth grader. Get your act together, Georgetown.

02-13 - Email welcoming me to GW. Now I think I know why everyone else sends letters. Email's are anticlimactic. Also today, a strange email from NYU inviting me to apply for housing. I hope this means I'm in?

02-15 - Big purple folder from NYU - YAY!!!!

02-16 - Still haven't recovered from the excitement of my NYU acceptance and I get a call from Penn!! What an awesome way to start the weekend!

02-20 - Woah. GW, why are you complicating my life? Full scholarship offer in the mail today. Dammit, I don't want to go to Washington....

2.22 - Enormous package from Penn. Haven't looked through all of it yet but I'm assuming there are detailed instructions on building a rocket ship in there. Didn't really consider Penn a real option before, but it's starting to look sexier after talking to an alum.

3.19 - Waitlisted at Michigan by email. I wasn't really interested in Michigan, but I'm pissed that they aren't interested in me either.

4.02 - In at Columbia by email!!! YAY COLUMBIA!!!

4.18 - Waitlisted at Harvard annnd I'm officially done! Staying on the waitlist, I think, but I'm going to send in my deposit to CLS. New York here I come!

Looks like we're having almost identical cycles so far. Don't let GW tempt you; I'm doing my best not to. Good luck with CLS! Oh, and if our cycles really are identical, look forward to your HLS deferral, haha.
