Got a strange call from UCLA on 6/21. Called to let me know that they are accepting people from the waitlist (I was waitlisted a couple months ago) during the next week or two. Asked me if I had committed to any other schools. I told them I had already paid deposits, etc. to Michigan and that unless they had a great financial aid package for me, I was going to Michigan. The woman pretty much said their money is gone. Anyway, she then asked me if my commitment to Michigan means that I want to be removed from UCLA's waitlist. Kind of a b-s tactic, in my opinion...seems like UCLA just didn't want to accept anyone off the waitlist unless they were sure they would attend. Maybe I'm just still bitter that it took them more than 6 months to put me on the waitlist. I just think that if people apply in October, they should be given some sort of a decision (even if a waitlist or deferral) in time to visit the school before having to submit seat deposits and sign housing leases at other schools. UCLA is a good school, but they're certainly not so good that people won't mind being strung along by them.

Still waiting final word from Chicago, but Michigan it is! Finally some resolution...
