Extra Curricular Information

Remember that if you don't get into your first choice, don't be discouraged. Besides, the first year of law is practically the same wherever you attend law school. Why is it that every law school forces you to take contract, property, torts, crim law, civic procedure, con law, evidence, criminal procedure, legal writing and research? It is to place all 1L's on an even and level playing field. 1L is the building block of law, and where the multistate portion (which is the same in every state) of the bar is taught. I don't know about you, but I'm not waiting until law school to study to get some macro view principles of the storm coming ahead. For those of you who are interested, check out some hornbooks, nutshell series, and even start learn how to read and brief cases. Start studying for the multistate portion of the bar. There are some good videos from PLI. At any rate, the world is not at an end if you don't get accepted to your first choice. Just remember that if you're at least in the top 33% of your class, the recruiters will reward you for your achievements. Just don't let the 1L courses haunt you!

Hello there, Many thanks for your good wishes. With your incredible life experiences, you will get into one or more decent law schools, God willing! Keep in touch. All the best!

Thanks...

for the comment. Yeah, I'm very anxious to get out of Florida and specifically Orlando. I've been here off and on for 10 years and need a change. But it's interesting what you said about the getting into a law school, because I'm nervous about taking a $100K loan on a school and not being able to find work afterwards. But I suppose you're right about doing the best your first year. Anyway, good luck with getting into your choice law school! I think your work experience is impressive.

Best of luck to you too! I too have heard the "sink or swim" story about Cooley. Hopefully I'll have some other choices. Keep on believin'! Cheers! ;-)

Our numbers and background are shockingly similar. We also have similar work ethics. Maybe we'll end up at a school together. What are your thoughts on Cooley?

Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback. I know Cooley by reputation and what I have read on their website (and message boards). I (perhaps arrogantly) think that I would do well there because I am a very dilligent worker, but I am concerned about taking on $100,000 of debt for a bleak job outlook. I have one question for you - did you apply to Cleveland-Marshall via LCOP, or regular admission? I'll be watching your profile,as well, and I'll be pulling for ya'!

We have similar numbers and graduate experience. I hoping that my graduate GPA will help me as well. I also applied to Cleveland State, St Thomas, Nova and Thomas Cooley. Let me know when hear something from the other schools. Good Luck

Hey, westend, I got a rejection letter from C-M today. Looks like Cooley for me. I decided that I will not accept an AAMPLE admission from Nova. At any rate, hope to see you at Cooley, too. I included my email address. Feel free to email me.

Thanks for the info. I never heard much about Blackstone Prep so I went with Kaplan test prep after I scored a 143 last summer. I was scoring 148-155 on practice tests and got a 144 when I retook the LSAT in December. Test prep was such a waste for me. If Barry is out of the question then I am praying to get accepted at Florida A & M. Congrats on being acccepted at Cooley! Best wishes!

Are you going to Cooley? Barry is stuck at 147 with a high GPA. I have gone rounds with them.

Hey there. Saw you had some positive posts about Barry and are from Florida. I just got back from a Barry visit and really enjoyed it. Looks like a great place that would allow one to do great things. Any of your thoughts on Barry's rep in the orlando/FL area, thoughts on them getting full ABA accred? Good luck!
