Additional info & updates

9/11/09- Two weeks until the test!! Doing well on practice tests, highest score ever last night! I'll be taking a few more and trying to relax.

9/19/09- Taking the LSAT in 1 week!!!

9/27/09- Its my birthday! Took the LSAT yesterday...not feeling relieved. I was ready for it this time, calm, and the testing environment was much better than the first time. However, I didn't finish two of the sections (which never happened in prep tests!). I have no idea what happened or why I went so slow. Not sure how I did, or if canceling and retaking will help my anxiety. Any advice on retaking, canceling, or what schools will think if I do it a third time?? Thanks.

9/28/09- All my transcripts are in! Some college credit in high school, transfer school, and degree school. Official LSDAS GPA is a 3.51.

9/29/09- Alright, I decided to suck it up and not cancel. Got an email today inviting me to OSU's open house. I know, not a big deal, but nice to hear from one of my top choices. I also received my first fee waiver from Seton Hall. Wasn't considering them, but I'll give them a look now. Feeling better.

10/1/09- I signed up for the Chicago Law School Forum today! Anyone else going?? It looks pretty awesome! I'm excited to get a chance to talk to admissions reps from all the schools I won't have a chance to visit!

10/12/09- LOR's are on the way! I'm getting so anxious for my new LSAT score....feels like I took it soooo long ago!!

10/16/09- Too add to the mass hysteria of updates, I just got my score too. Not to be a downer, but what a waste of time!! 158. SAME EXACT SCORE. UGHHHH. December anyone??

10/17/09- LOVED the Law School Forum!! May consider retaking in December. I'm going my make my list of schools more realistic. Hopefully, I can add a few back after I up my score.

10/26/09- Most LORs in the mail to LSAC. Still pestering a prof for one more. Wrote my addendum, struggling with the personal statement. Funny how 8 months out of school makes essay writing difficult. Still deciding about the LSAT retake, but hope to have some aps out by next Monday!! : )

10/28/09- Have a solid draft of the PS. Still needs more work. I'm starting to feel like its crunch time. Ugh, I just want to get some of these out asap!

12/5/09- So I took a hiatus from LSN to study for my third and (hopefully) final LSAT. I walked out feeling like I gave it my best shot for the first time! It wasn't perfect, but I expect an improvement. How much, I'm not sure. Aps to go out soon!

12/18/09- Any buzz about when Dec LSAT scores will be released? Anyone guessing before the holidays? Sent out a few applications!! Feels great!!! Still working on my DS for the other schools, but I hope to beat the Dec LSAT rush.

12/24/09-Xmas present to myself: 10 aps out! Hoping to send a few more, and finish my Diversity Statement. Did any of you send Diversity Statements to schools that didn't ask for them? Debating on that.

12/28/09- NEW LSAT. 161!! I bombed the RC, but hey, its an improvement and I'll take it. I feel more confident about my aps to my top schools now!!!

1/08/10- In at Akron!! Nice call from the Dean and an email. Its official!! I'm going to law school!!!! Hurrah!!!

1/22/10- Just got back from vacation, in at Dayton and Penn State!! Awesome! So excited!!

1/25/10- So I just spent an hour looking at my status checkers. Hopefully this doesn't become a habit. Found out that decisions are in the mail from Depaul and Santa Clara. I hope its good news!

1/28/10- IN at Michigan State via email!! Awesome. Got an email from Arizona that the ad comm reviewed my file and wanted more information about why I want to attend. Hope that's a good thing!

1/29/10- IN at DEPAUL, SANTA CLARA with a $8,000 a year scholarship, and a full ride at TOLEDO!!!! Waiting on the official packet from DePaul for scholly info. 7-0-0! Wow, amazing start!!!

1/30/10- IN at St. Thomas MN with Dean's Scholarship of $25,000. Got the official DePaul packet with Dean's Scholarship of $20,000 a year. Not a bad day!

2/2/10- IN at John Marshall with full ride and $10,000 stipend a year!! Got scholly info from Michigan State, 3/4 tuition, plus $7,500 stipend. Kinda annoyed I didn't get full tuition, but still happy about the offer.

2/3/10- IN at ONU, scholly information to come. Well, that's it for the expected admits and safeties!! Into the unknown!

2/6/10- Got the scholly info from Penn State with $20,000 a year. Awesome! Very interested!! Been under review for five weeks at most other schools, waiting....

2/7/10- Got a sweet snow hat from St. Thomas. Free law school gear is too much fun!

2/9/10- IN at CASE WESTERN with an International Human Rights Scholarship of $20,000 a year. Really excited about this one!
UPDATE: WL at Cincinnati. Ouch. First WL.

2/11/10- Rejected from U of Illinois via email.

2/22/10- Rejected at Maryland and GW via snail mail. Boo.

2/23/10- IN at ARIZONA via Status Checker!!!!!! SO EXCITED!!!! First tier one acceptance!! : )

3/5/10- A week and a half of silence. I'm getting so impatient! I know I have one mystery letter in the mail, but the rest of the schools are MIA. Grrr....

3/6/10- WL'd at Washington and Lee!! I didn't think I would ever be excited about a waitlist, but I'm honored. Really. Now, if only they would let me in... : ) I also received my packet from Arizona and was awarded a $8,000 a year Dean's merit scholarship!! Wasn't expecting that, so I'm really excited about it! I can't wait to visit the school! Yay!

3/8/10- IN AT OSU MORITZ!!!!!!!! So excited about this one!! Especially because I'm in state and the school is awesome!!! GO BUCKS!!!!

3/11/10- Just received scholarship info from OSU, $9,000 a year!! Thank you!!! Looks like I have a new top choice! : )

3/12/10- Out at Minnesota. Expected, but still sucks.

3/15/10- Dinged at Fordham via status checker. "Unfortunately, you have been denied." Oh, well, I actually found that message funny!

3/16/10- In at SETON HALL as a Chancellor Scholar! $35,000 per year. Nice, definitely an offer worth considering!!

3/19/10- WL at W&M via email.

4/2/10- I've been lazy about updating. I've narrowed my options and have withdrawn from most schools. Visited Case and Arizona, and loved them both!! Going to check out OSU April 16-17th. This will be a very tough decision, but I'm happy with my options.

WL at Iowa and WUSTL!! I will remain on both. Dinged at Wisconsin.

4/9/10- In at Chicago-Kent via status checker and email. Sweet! A few rejections came in recently- Hastings, UW. Oh well.

Come onnn Indiana, you're my last one!!

4/14/10- Dinged at IUB. That brings my cycle to a close. If I counted correctly that leaves me at: 15-9-6, and some great options! Not bad for this cycle!!!

6/5/10- OSU it is!!! It was very difficult to withdraw from Case and Arizona. They are both great schools and I had a hard time letting them go. The faculty, staff, and students at each school are amazing. I'm very excited about my decision! GO BUCKS!!!!! I'm happy to have an idea where I will most likely be heading in August!

I will still heavily consider an acceptance from Iowa or WUSTL. Love them!!

Good Luck!! Hopefully you'll get three more years at Northwestern.

LSAC GPA
Saturday, April 25 2009 at 08:00 PM

My understanding--which I'm fairly confident is correct :)--- LSAC GPA is really the only thing that matters, degree GPA essentially does not. LSAC takes every single college class you've taken and weights them equally. So a great school like Northwestern= Community college. (Not really fair, but that is the system) So if I understood you correctly,(two years of 4.0 before you entered Northwestern, and then your NW GPA was 3.25???? Is that correct???) Your LSAC GPA will be much higher than 3.25. If you have 60 credits of 4.0, before Northwestern and 60 of 3.25 at Northwestern. Your LSAC GPA would be about 3.62. Also, here is a link to a GPA calculator: http://www.lawpad.com/gpa_calculator/ Basically, put in how many credits you have at each letter grade and it will calculate what your LSAC GPA will be. Hopefully that was somewhat clear! :)

Glad I could deliver some very good news!!! Good luck in September. :)

Good Choice
Thursday, April 02 2009 at 08:00 PM

Great choice on hanging onto your score. I had a good friend that considered cancelling his June LSAT test because of some logic games mishaps, but we talked and he decided not too. As a result, he got a kept a pretty good score, but he was able to take a really stress-free September LSAT the other day and feels like he did really well.

Thanks for the congrats, cool to see you're looking into UW (and those *other* schools, too). The best advice I can offer you is to be persistent and visit the schools you're interested in. Meet with the Dean of Admissions, observe a class, and really show your interest for the school. If you get waitlisted, send a LOCI and talk with the dean (yes, again if you have to!). Hopefully that helps...if you have any other questions, just ask. I'll send the PS too, let me know what you think! (it's gotten some pretty mixed reviews)

Just wanted to say hi and wish you the best of luck this cycle. We have almost the same numbers so it will be interesting to see where we end up. Good luck!

Thanks for your comment. I hope I have a shot of getting in somewhere on my list. Good luck with your cycle!

Great to hear that you enjoyed the forum. Way to be positive. Though I don't envy you in having to retake, I think you will do well. Good luck!

thanks man

Thanks man, good luck to yourself too. Keep me updated on your cycle!!

Hi! As far as OH schools go, I visited + applied to Cincinnati, Case, and OSU. The people in the admissions office, the students, and the profs were VERY warm and friendly at Cincy, although their law building is a little depressing and I didn't really like the surrounding neighborhood. I visited Case during their Spring Break, so I didn't get to talk to anyone there. The area seemed nice, though. However, even w/ scholarship, I didn't think the heavy price tag is worth its ranking. OSU is great... I graduated from another big university, so the transition was wasn't as bad as it could've been. Columbus is a great city, my classmates are generally nice, and the profs are all very approachable and smart. Let me know if you have any specific questions about OSU or if you need any application help. Good luck! =)

retake
Friday, May 29 2009 at 08:00 PM

I have sort of reevaluated retaking. I was thinking about retaking in december but I think I am going to see what happens this cycle and if it does not work out i will retake next fall. This should give me enough time to ensure that I score where my pt average is! Anyways best of luck to you this cycle and maybe I will see at one midwest schools in fall... crossing my fingers

thanks!
Tuesday, March 24 2009 at 08:00 PM

thanks for the well wishes -- best of luck!

haha
Saturday, June 20 2009 at 08:00 PM

I've given up hope regarding those midwest schools. I'm really happy with my choices right now and basically the only school im waiting to hear back from that I would consider going to is MSU. Oh....GOOD LUCK TOO!

Thanks!
Friday, May 29 2009 at 08:00 PM

I found out about Iowa via email on 1/29 on 02/01 I recieved a letter in the mail and it appeared on the status checker. Best of luck to you on Iowa and your other schools!

Friday, December 04 2009 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the luck! Same to you! Maybe we'll end up at the same awesome schools.

Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on the new LSAT score! Good luck with the rest of your schools. Oh, and my plug--On, Wisconsin!

Case
Monday, February 16 2009 at 07:00 PM

Hey - congrats on all your acceptances so far! I see a lot of Ohio schools, are you originally from there? Quick question for you about Case if you paid attention to their status checker: did your committee review date update the day before you received a decision?

Sunday, August 16 2009 at 08:00 PM

CONGRATS on all your acceptances! yes, it is great to know where i will be going! have you decided on a school yet?

RJ
Thursday, August 13 2009 at 08:00 PM

Hey RJ, Thanks!! I'm responding here because I don't have a link to your profile. Yes, the scholarship info from Toledo was sent with my admissions packet. Best of luck!!

Thursday, March 12 2009 at 08:00 PM

Thanks and congrats to you too! Let me know what happens with Iowa and Wisconsin!

Cincinnati
Thursday, August 13 2009 at 08:00 PM

Hey Charles, I applied with my new LSAT. I'm not sure what happened there, the WL was a bit of a shock. Oh well, you win some, you lose some!

Case Western :)
Wednesday, January 13 2010 at 07:00 PM

Hi! Congrats on all of your great acceptances. Just wondering if you wrote a special essay or something to qualify you for the Human Rights scholarship. Where do you think you'll endup going? Good luck with the rest of your cycle. :-D

Monday, February 16 2009 at 07:00 PM

Haha, I'm honored to have a stalker, you know, in a weird sort of way. :) I don't think Case Western is for me, but I'm not going to withdraw just yet. Which OSU event are you going to, though? I think I'm going to the one on April 16-17. I'm somewhat hopeful that OSU will negotiate on scholarship money with me because I'd love to be closer to my family, so we shall see.

Tuesday, January 26 2010 at 07:00 PM

What's up Northwestern graduate buddy? Thanks and congrats on getting into Moritz. Good luck!

Tuesday, January 26 2010 at 07:00 PM

Yep, I'm an '09 grad. Are you from Columbus originally? I haven't counted OSU out entirely yet but like I said, I want to branch out a bit.

Case
Sunday, April 19 2009 at 08:00 PM

Still thinking about Case? I might not go anywhere this year, but if I do, it'll be Case for sure.

Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

No love from Madison?! Aaaaargh. You've still gotten into some great schools, though!

Thursday, December 18 2008 at 07:00 PM

It's been a long time since I've been on this site, but congrats on all of your acceptances + schollies! Especially Moritz. =) Let me know if I can sway you towards us in any way!

Tuesday, January 26 2010 at 07:00 PM

I forgot to register lol. I don't really know what's to stop me from just showing up though

OSU
Monday, February 16 2009 at 07:00 PM

Did you like the ASW at OSU? Any final decision?
