Additional info & updates

Scholarship amounts are in three years. In-state tuition at Texas.

I know I applied to a lot of reaches, but I figured I only apply to law school once.

So far I have been accepted to Texas (phone call), William & Mary (large, white, thin envelope via snail mail), and WUSTL (email). I have also been deferred at Georgetown via email, not quite sure what that means about my chances.

12-10-09
Just got the call from Minnesota!!! I'm in!!!

12-15-09
Wow! Just got my acceptance packet from Minnesota, and I have been awarded a FULL RIDE!!! I did not even expect a large scholarship, much less a full ride. Minnesota has all of a sudden jumped to the top of my list!

12-21-09
In at USC via small, white envelope!

1-08-10
In at Vanderbilt via email! Decision mailed on 1/5.

1-25-10
In at Notre Dame with $20,000 per year via email!

1-26-10
Waitlisted at Penn via email. Pretty much what I expected.

1-29-10
Rejected at Harvard via email. Shocked!

2-01-10
Rejected at Yale via small, white envelope. Another shocker!

2-03-10
Waitlisted at UCLA. Actually pretty surprised about it, but they weren't at the top of my list anyway, so I decided to withdraw.

2-10-10
Put on reserve at Columbia via snail mail. I was expecting a rejection, so I am almost excited about being held.

2-15-10
Put on reserve at Cornell. Pretty surprised. I'm starting to worry that either my lower LSAT is hurting me, or my application was not very good.

2-18-10
Sent to faculty review at Berkeley.

2-19-10
Waitlisted at Duke via email.

2-25-10
$25,000/year at WUSTL via email

2-26-10
Waitlisted at Georgetown and Michigan. Withdrawing from Georgetown but staying with Michigan.

3-2-10
$24,000/year at Vandy via snail mail. Vandy making it interesting!

3-3-10
Rejected at Northwestern. Not surprising as I applied a month later because of a fee waiver and didn't interview or write a Why Northwestern?

3-10-10
Waitlisted at Virginia, will be staying on for now.

3-11-10
Rejected at Berkely, my cycle is almost over.

3-12-10
Withdrew from Boston. I seriously think they may have lost my application, but I was no longer interested anyway. Still waiting on Stanford, but I'm not expecting anything, so it is coming down to Texas, Vanderbilt, and Minnesota!

3-29-10
$20,000/year from USC and Notre Dame added $2,000/year after I sent a request for more money. Neither is enough to draw me away from my top three however.

4-7-10
So, I was rejected from Stanford via snail mail, which rounds out my decisions. I also withdrew from William & Mary today. Texas also upped their scholarship offer to $9,500/year after I sent a Financial Aid Matching Request.

4-8-10
Withdrew from USC, WUSTL, and Notre Dame today. Getting close to a decision!

4-14-10
Vanderbilt Law 2013! I sent in my deposit on Monday and withdrew from Minnesota and Texas today, both of which were very tough decisions. I cannot wait to get to Nashville!

Way to go with a full scholarship to Minn! That's awesome!

Thanks

Yeah it's been pretty good so far- but full rides vs. top choices are going to make the decision harder- do you know which way you're leaning?

I have absolutely no idea. I'm planning on going to visit schools in the next few months, so maybe that will make it easier (hopefully!) In this economy it'll be hard to turn down a full ride, but I have a feeling that I'm going to love some of the schools I'm visiting- and it would be nice to get out of Indiana.

Congrats!

Congrats on your decision! That's great that you liked Nashville and they gave you a good scholarship. You'll love Vandy, and it sounds like the right choice especially if you want to stay in the South.

Glad to see you made the right choice. Look forward to seeing you in the fall!
