Additional info & updates

As my mom passed away in April. I am moving to the 2017-2018 cycle.

Asked Fordham and GW to not hold apps for Dec LSAT.

11/6 Applied Fordham. (Yes... its 2/12 and I am still waiting on Fordham)

11/13-14 NU visit and interview. Provided Fee waiver for ED.

11/17 Applied ED Northwestern. Applied GW RD. Complete at Fordham.

11/20 Apps Complete NU and GW.

11/21 Under Review NU and GW. (I know ED at NU is a longshot, but banking on softs, Graduate degree GPAs and interview. It was worth the shot.)

12/5 - Email from GW with congratulations on admittance and 2nd paragraph included info on a $105,000 scholarship. Just need to maintain good standing. No need based aid given due to scholarship being over $16k.

12/12 - Received ED decision from Northwestern and moved to Regular Decision.

12/18 - Applied to UofA, Boulder and Emory, Complete at UofA

12/19 - Complete at Emory and Admitted to UofA! (Basically, a 24-hour turn around!!!) No scholarship info for UofA in email.

12/21- UofA Scholarship $24,500 a year $73,500 Deans Achievement Award auto renewed as long in good standing

12/31 - Submitted to NYU (RTK longshot hopeful). I am a reapplicant who didn't get dinged until I called them to talk about my mom (she was in ICU at the time) and if I was actually in the running for RTK. Also submitted to BU and Georgetown (I should have waited until I was closer to their deadline for this)

1/12 - UofA Admitted Students Visit. Also emailed Northwestern to hold for February score. Will also write a Why Northwestern.

1/13 - Submitted to ASU, Berkeley, Cardozo

1/16 - Admitted to Emory (by mail) with a scholarship!

1/18 - Admitted at Boulder. 1L - Full Scholarship 2L - $10k 3L -$10k

1/19 - Admitted at ASU with call from Dean. I was really excited to see my scholarship offer based on our conversation and was very disappointed with my offer. They encouraged me to submit a binding contract to get a better scholarship. All other offers are close to double this first offer from a percentage standpoint.

1/22 Called Fordham to make sure they weren't holding my app for a future LSAT score. Confirmed I would have a decision in the next few days to week.

1/23 - Submitted to George Mason, USC

1/24 Emory Woodruff Fellow Letter Submitted from the CEO of the nonprofit I work for.

1/25 - I got a call from ASU today about a post I made on TLS. We talked for a long time and they sent me a scholarship renegotiation form. I was left with these thoughts... the reality is, at the end of the day I'm a splitter with a good to great LSAT and a low UGPA that's dragging me down and impacting my entire cycle.

BUT here's the thing, I still wouldn't change a thing about WHY I got the low GPA (working full time and managing a team of 75 my last year of college). I am the sum of my life experiences and that is going to make me a competitive, high achieving law student.

1/26 Accepted to BU with a phone call!!!! YES! I believe everything is coming in the mail. I did apply for the BU PI program, so fingers crossed.

1/31 In at Cardozo with 135k

2/2 No PI from BU but did get 60k.

2/10 Retook the LSAT. Proctor ended 5 min early in section 1.... so that sucks... but I still finished the games but a little nervous. But still feel great hope I FINALLY got a 170+ Ive tutored 10 people who have all beat me! This is my damn time!

It is great to see a fellow 'non-traditional' student going for it, and doing well :) I too am more than 10 years out of undergrad. You have an impressive application package, I am sure you will have continued success. Best wishes and pulling for you at Northwestern!
