Spent senior year studying in Japan
1 year work experience in Japan (JET Program)

Plain white envelope from Temple

Got a letter from B.C., had applied for early decision. Their early decision was that they couldn't make a decision yet, and held my application to the regular season.

Two plain white envelopes from U of Arizona, one with a scholarship offer: 13k-10k-10k, with no strings. Pretty surprised at that, wasn't expecting money from them. I'm not sure what to do now; U of A isn't my first choice (maybe my last choice), but it's a lot of money to turn down...hoping to use it as leverage against Temple, and U of Hawaii if I get in.

I sent a letter to Temple begging for money, and to my suprise I got an email back three days later, telling me they had awarded me 36k over three years.

Plain white rejection letter from Boston College. My grandma is very angry at BC admissions board.

Waitlisted at BU

Waitlisted at Hawaii. Aloha, Hawaii (meaning goodbye, Hawaii) Dissapointing.

Decided to go to Temple. Thought a lot about U of Arizona, but the campus in Tokyo is what did it for me in the end.

Hey, Yeah, I took the Kaplan course. The books for the course and the online stuff were very good, the classes were mediocre at best. I studied a lot though, and got lucky in that my worst section, the logic games, was really easy on the LSAT I took. Thanks for the comments, and good luck to you too. Where in Japan are you?

Thanks. I studied for about two months, and I studied a lot. I signed up for the Kaplan course, and used thier books. The books and the online workshops they have are excellent, but I thought the class itself was kind of a waste of time. The best advice I can give you is to take a practice test under realistic conditions (like not taking extra breaks) and see how you do. I did well with the course, but I think I would have done just as well if I had taken their online-only course, or maybe even if I had studied on my own. I think it just depends on who you are; whether you have the discipline to keep to a schedule without the structure of a classroom, or not. Whether or not you shell out the money for the course, you definatley have to study hard, a lot. Also, don't focus just on your weak points, but also develop your strengths, because they are what will get you your points. It's a test, and you can beat it. Good luck!
