Just starting my journey toward law school! I'm a non-traditional student at 38 years old, wife and two kids. I went back to school to get my degree in business and now am studying to take the LSAT in June of this year (2015). I graduate with my Business degree from BYU-Idaho in Spring of 2016. My goal is to get in to a lwa school for Fall 2016. Wish me luck.

July 2,2015

I took the test on June 8, and just got my score back. 146. I don't graduate until July 2016 so I'm definitely taking the LSAT again in October to try and get into the 150-155 range. I am in Ca currently but my focus is on law schools out of state. NV, UT, TX or FL. Areas of law I am interested in...immigration law, Intellectual property law.

I took the LSAT for the second time last Saturday and felt a lot better about it than I did the first time. i am still hoping to be in the 150-155 range. Today I went to the LSAC Law School Forum at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. They had workshops on sending applications, diversifying your personal statement and letters of recommendation, financing law school. All of these has a Q & A period at the end of each workshop. There were also about 200 law schools on hand with representatives to answer questions about the law schools. Best part about this thing was that it was Free!. I highly recommend it. It's a good way to get in front of a bunch of admission reps for law schools, and ask any question you want about the application process.

Well I took the LSAT the second time in October and I ended up with a 150. My goal was to at least get a 150 so I'll take it. I sent in apps to 12 schools and so far have heard back from Willamette which has accepted me and I have a phone interview set up for March 1st with Lewis and Clark. Willamette is offering Merit scholarship money but I do not yet have details on how much they are offering.

Feb 19, 2016
Scholarship offered by Willamette is 10K, which will bring tuition down from about 39K to 29K. Not bad, I'm interested in seeing what else is out there. I was pleased with the personal note that was attached to my acceptance letter regarding my Personal Statement, plus I received an email from one of their professors also sent me an email welcoming me and gave me his cell phone number in case I have any questions. So far, I really am impressed with how personal they are. In other news, I have a phone interview with Lewis and Clark on March 1st. Stay tuned.

I was denied admission by U of Miami. Whatever, they can suck it. I was admitted into U of South Dakota and Creighton University today.

2/29/16
I received scholarship from Creighton today, $18,000 for three years as long as I am in academic good standing. So far they have offered me the most in scholarship money and are my first choice so far. Still waiting to hear from the other schools.

3-3-16
Waitlisted by U of Idaho today, they said they may be making offers as late as August. I sent them an email and said thanks but no thanks and had them take me of the waitlist. Also accepted to Oklahoma City today.

3-4-16
Received acceptance email from South Dakota today along with...wait for it, wait for it..$1000 scholarship for the first year only! Yay! um, no. I immediately sent them a withdraw email letting them know I am no longer interested.

There were a few schools that I have yet to hear from. They are University of Arizona, Florida International University,South Texas and UNLV. My guess is that they were waiting to find out who they accepted that decided not to go to their respective school and then once the dust settles they'll either accept or reject my application and offer (or not offer) scholarship money. I am confident in my decision to go to Creighton University School of Law. They gave me more scholarship money than I thought I would be able to get, and they have reached out to me on many occasions and have made me feel like they really want me there. The schools that have not sent any communication about admission status obviously only want me there to fill a seat. (Creighton may feel that way also, but they have not made me feel that way, which is huge for me) I am going out to Creighton for admitted students day April 15th ad look forward to attending in Fall 2016.

4/6/16
Oklahoma City University, when I told them that I was not going to attend because Creighton had offered me more scholarship money replied by offering me $2000 more per year. It was still not enough to match Creightons offer. I have grown fond of Creighton now, and probably would not change my mind unless it was something crazy like full tuition or close to it. In other news, I was waitlisted by UNLV, they were my number one choice because I had lived in Vegas before and I have friends and family there. Oh well, I'm excited to go to Creighton. I have sent in my seat deposit. I'll update the last two schools I was waiting on when they come in. I think that if they really wanted me there, they would have respnded by now.

Got back from Admitted students day at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. It was a great visit and I know I am making the right choice by deciding to attend Creighton University School of Law. The faculty was very nice and it sounds like they are very supportive. The professors have an open door policy and really take the time to get to know and help the students succeed. I was very impressed with the campus as well as the friendliness and helpfulness of the students and faculty. This will be my last entry into this profile. I have officially decided on Creighton and have reserved my seat. Go Bluejays! Class of 2019!
