Extra Curricular Information

To put it mildly, I've not been the best student. I was dismissed from school due to poor grades in Fall 2008, got readmitted for Fall 2010, hoping to graduate either spring or summer 2011, and enter law school that fall. My LSDAS GPA is super low, barely squeaking by with a 2.01.

With that GPA, let's face it, my odds are low, but fortunately my LSAT, though not amazing, is a decent score. I got a 162, which is considerably higher than NIU's usual, which is where I am hoping to attend due to their low cost and strong public interest program.

I just hope with my crazy low GPA I'm able to get in!!

Additional info & updates

Yowzas. So, I got a 12,000/yr scholarship to DePaul, contingent on GPA. I was pretty happy, but still planning on NIU, where I was waitlisted. DePaul was the only school that accepted me straightout. I sent in my initial seat deposit so I'd know I'd be attending somewhere at least. Did like DePaul though.

I got off the waitlist at Kent with the choice between 20,000/yr contingent on grades, or 12,000/yr as long as I'm in good standing. Not sure what to do, I e-mailed Dean asking for stipulations to be removed, and he offered me instead an additional 12,000 grant for the first year. So, that comes out to a potential 72,000 for Kent. I can't imagine Loyola beating that, and that brings Kent down to the same price as NIU, so I am now excited as I am 90% sure I am attending Kent!

Not sure how I got so lucky w/ such horrible grades and not an amazing LSAT, but clearly I got something going for me. Lucky lucky me!

I'll repost when I hear from Loyola and NIU, as I am still on both of their waitlists. If they do decide to admit me, I still doubt I would attend them due to Kent's generosity. We'll see though, ya never know...

Update...

I told DePaul about Kent's scholarship, and now they've raised their offer to $20,000 as well, and they're looking into lowering the GPA requirement!! Craziness. If they lower it enough, or pull a Loyola and get rid of stips completely, I will have quite the decision to make....

My numbers are almost an exact match. I've seen a litany of bad news for low GPA, however seeing your profile gives me hope. Good luck in the fall

Do you remember about when you got accepted off the waitlist? I'd like to attend Kent - mostly for the summer program they offer, and would hate to miss it because of an admit AFTER the summer program starts!
