Additional info & updates

I'm still figuring out best practices for this website.

1/08 - 1/15: Applied to all those schools.

1/26 - In at Stanford over the phone - I feel very honored. What a great way to start the cycle.

2/10 - In at Columbia - Received admitted students binder in the mail.

2/14 - Received my admissions letter from Columbia.

2/17 - Held at Northwestern via email - I think I'll probably withdraw - no need clogging up the application pool.

2/18 - In at GW via a very nice email. I think I like receiving the big packet in the mail instead of the email...there is something kinda anti-climactic about it.

2/21 - Had an interview for Georgetown this evening. It was really fun, but very strange.

3/05 - I am in Haiti at the moment, but got an email from the guy who interviewed me congratulating me on my acceptance. No way to check from here, but I take him at his word.

3/08 - In at NYU. I am not home, so I found out from a follow-up email about financial aid. I'm guessing the packet or whatever is at my apartment as we speak.

3/10 - In at Berkeley via a bunch of emails.

3/10 - Rejected at Duke. My first rejection. It's unfortunate, but kinda refreshing.

3/11 - Back home in the States and finally found all of my packets from while I was away. Also found out I am in at Michigan. :)

3/16 - Rejected by email from Penn. This one is a tough one. Penn was one of my top choices going into this. I'd still go to Stanford (never thought I had a chance originally), but I loved Penn.

3/18 - Finally went complete at Yale after much fighting with my grad school to get a Dean's Certification.

3/25 - Waitlisted at Chicago. Expected and irrelevant, but still I hate getting mediocre news. I'll withdraw from the waitlist though.

3/31 - Accepted at Cornell while at the Columbia admitted student's day.

Hey Sarah, I am half Puerto Rican and half Italian. I can't really speak to whether that helps much or not. I am sure that anything that sets you apart positively is good though. Ultimately, you can't control your ethnicity though, so its more worthwhile to focus on the things you can control.

Thanks!

Thanks Sarah! Argentinian is pretty cool too. :) I'm not sure where I will go yet, I am waiting for the admitted student weekends to decide, but I can say that so far I LOVE what I have heard about Stanford. What about you? I don't see a profile for you, what are you looking at?

Good Luck!

That's great Sarah! And great to hear about Stanford. ASW is April 8th-10th, which I am psyched about. I'm sure you'll do fine in your cycle if you are already thinking this far ahead. Are you in school now?
