*That 170 is a retake from a 168.
*Maybe everybody on here's this way, but I spent /quite/ a bit of time on my PS and DS. I started thinking about them in June, wrote the first draft in August, then played with/redrafted them a few times a week until November.
*My letters of rec were both from academics. One was from my thesis advisor (with ties to Harvard and Michigan) and the other was from a philosophy professor I've been working with since Freshman year.
*Wrote a Why Michigan, but no other school-specific statements.
*Law-centered senior thesis.

OUT
*Invited to apply to the Dean's Scholarship at Cornell.
*Admitted on Priority Track at Duke.
*Admitted to Columbia under ED terms on January 2nd, just a few hours after I called to check on my application. Thrilling way to start the New Year.
