Extra Curricular Information

Here is some information about myself...

Graduated this May from UH Manoa (2018).

Got off to a rough start at my local CC, requisites like science and math really screwed me. Once I got into my 4 year institution and took classes that actually had something to do with my interest and future my grades went up. Should have been higher. Damn Pre-requisites:(

I have always struggled with standardized testing of all sorts and the LSAT was no different. I got a panic attack right when the test started, it went away half way into the 2nd section, but the damage was done. LR was my strongest sections in my practice testing but I scored a lower in those areas on the LSAT, but surprisingly did well in LG. I knew I could have done better if I wouldn't have freaked lol.

Applied to a couple of schools once my DEC score came back and did not do well, as you can see. I then made the decision to wait for my senior grades to come in and be accounted for in my CAS. I knew it would help me considerably, and it paid off.

Don't let others push you away from pursuing law school, no matter your LSAT score or GPA, keep pushing and give it your all. Good things will come! If you guys would like to ask me any questions or need some advice, as I know this process can be intimidating, especially if you have low scores like me, message me! Good luck to you all!

Additional info & updates

UH Manoa Law: Rejected by email. Pretty bummed as this was my first choice.

Cal Western Law: Waitlisted by email. Re-review was completed and I was not accepted. Not really a big deal, but still bummed.

Creighton Law: Received rejection letter in mail

U-Baltimore Law: Rejected by email

Widener Law (Harrisburg): Received call from Dean of admissions on my acceptance with some scholarship. Giving this serious thought but want to wait for other offers to come in before making my decision.

-Contacted the Dean of admissions for Widener law about my rejection of their offer. I was bummed as It was the best school I got into and really liked everything about the program. scholarship money tho was the deciding factor. 21,000 is alot of money to pass up and at the end of the day how you do as lawyer is up to your ability, not the school or anyone else.

New England Law: Received call from admissions on my acceptance. Will most likely not be attending. They did not offer me any scholarship and COA would be quite high due to that. Emailed my admission advisor of my choice to turn down there offer.

Western state Law: Accepted by email and received scholarship offer. Told to call my admission advisor for further confirmation. Scholarship offer is only for my first year, but I am able to earn more scholarship in subsequent years based on my performance. Ex. If I get a 2.60-2.74 I get 25% of my tuition covered.

-Made my decision to attend Western State College of Law over Widener (Harrisburg). As explained above, the money played a huge factor, and the ability to get more money in the subsequent years was a big bonus. I wish I could avoid any risk, with going to a less prestigious program, but Im not that great at standardized testing lol. For what I want to do, which is just to come back to Hawaii, Clerk and get a good paying job, Western State College of Law can do that for me. Obviously Ive spoken to many lawyers on all sides of the spectrum when it comes to schools and the general consensus is, its all up to you and how well you market yourself. Once you get that first job your work experience becomes the thing employers focus on not your school. Just wanted to share that for people who might be in the same situation as of me. Be confident in yourself and be prepared to work hard! :)

Ohio Northern Law: Received rejection through mail. Even though Ive already decided where I will be attending, it sucks to be rejected lol.

John Marshall Law: Decided to just withdraw, since I already started my semester at Western State. Wish they would have gotten back to me, and if I was accepted, would have gone there as I liked everything about the school.

Congrats on your recent acceptances. I had similar stats and blasted out my app and used the laws of averages to leverage admissions & $$. If you have any strategy Qs for admissions lmk ill be glad to help.

Hey saw your post. good to know you follow me. I updated some recent material check it out if you haven't and please re-visit before you transition from 0L to 1L to 2L. I post things i wish i could do in hindsight. good luck! Are you applying to more schools? I shotgun blasted my apps and got my calling late. If I would have never done the shot-gun method I would have never gotten into a T25 school. Good luck!
