2017 Application Season

I have no idea how I got into YLS. I really don't, but PTL. I guess a hail mary really can work out. The scholarship is for the 2017-2018 academic year, but will be renewed dependent on there being no significant changes in my financial situation. As such, over three years, the award would be over $100K.

2016 Application Season

In addition to my LS apps, I also applied to education policy grad programs. I decided to attend Penn GSE's one-year master's and to reapply in the fall for c/o 2020 since I wasn't accepted at Penn (aka no joint-degree option except for Vandy--see below for details)--thus my withdrawal from the waitlists and acceptances.

Acceptances/Waitlists Details

Georgetown--I was put on the Preferred (not regular) Waitlist, in a "special group" which I hope means that if I reapply earlier next year with a more polished app I'll be in. I emailed them about discussing the weaknesses in the application during the summer.

UVA--No special WL from what I can tell. Will try to set-up time to discuss my application during the summer.

UF--The money I was offered was the Presidential Scholarship--which covers 75% of tuition for each of the three years with no stipulations. The number recorded above is the estimated three-year total for an in-state applicant assuming no tuition increases (which the scholarship adjusts for).

Vandy Joint degree--I was accepted to Vandy's Ed school and wanted to attend if I got into the LS as well, but there isn't reliable data on employment prospects. Since it is four years total anyways, I'd rather do a one-year master's and then a JD since it'll take the same amount of time and gives me more freedom.
I applied to Vandy very late in the cycle during a highly competitive year. My waitlist decision included an offer of deferred admissions to the following year's incoming class along with the explanation that they wanted to admit me and had me on a priority track in the waitlist but couldn't offer me a spot at the moment because they were over-enrolled at the time.

LSAT

September 2016--Retook but got sick and canceled score.

October 2015--162. Retook in the hopes of breaking 170, but an intense (stress-induced?) headache during two sections really hurt my concentration.

June 2015--167. I was hoping to break 170.
