Additional info & updates

All scholarships are 3 year totals. I have also have factored in scholarship amounts to my rankings.

My father worked as a doctor for a non-profit institution, providing care for people with disabilities. The job required his family to live on-campus, and we did until the mid-nineties. (We moved when I was 9). After sharing my life story, my unique experiences, and my perspectives with one of my undergraduate professors he allowed me to be a guest lecturer for his ethics classes starting my sophomore semester and every semester since, even after graduation. Two other teachers also began allowing me to guest lecture their ethics classes beginning my junior year. Needless to say, I have a strong interest in disability law.

I took five years to graduate from school, because I dropped out as junior and returned the next year. Junior year I shared my views regarding sexuality with a friend who then went on to spray paint insults on my garage wall and spread rumors about me in school. I was the target of bullying in the wake and left school due to the constant harassment of my peers.

I am a member of the LGBTQ community. I have a strong interest in working to protect LGBTQ rights.

I am an eighth Cherokee.

Wow! I cannot believe you got rejected from UCLA. I did too, but, with your credentials and background/softs, one would think you'd fare pretty well in terms of being accepted to UCLA SOL. Best of luck with the rest of your cycle. I'm sure you'll get into an awesome school.

Thanks, Yuck. It was the first application I sent out and, and I admit that it was somewhat rushed trying to beat the earlier decision deadline. I did not write any optional essays other than a short paragraph detailing my programmatic interest in their philosophy of law program. UCLA also seems to be gunning for the T-14, so if you look at the numbers typical to their accepted applicants, you won't find many people below the 170 lsat threshold. Hopefully, there will be a few top 20 schools giving me an opportunity this cycle, but I am still happy to have been accepted into any schools at all thus far. Furthermore, there is always the prospect of going to a less prestigious school as a 1L and then transferring to a better school. My cousin scored a 176 with a 2.9 GPA, attended University of Illinois his first year in 2009 with a half-tuition scholarship, finished first in his class that year, and transferred to Chicago. He recently passed the New York Bar and is clerking with the 2nd circuit federal court. So, regardless of where I attend my first year, I hope to prove myself through due diligence and improve my prospects accordingly.
