Now that my cycle has almost ended I will give some commentary.

Being a splitter I cast a wide net, with some almost auto-accepts and rejects in the mix. The old maxim that splitters' cycles will be unpredictable held true in my case.

Going in my top choice was SMU. I was hopeful that I would get in with good money, as is the norm with 166 and above LSAT applicants. Being waitlisted is a huge disappointment. My application must have rubbed them the wrong way. Too bad, because SMU has a whole lot to offer.

Classy rejection letters: Illinois (near apology from Dean Pless), USC (invitation to transfer felt nice), Davis (actually signed by the dean)

$120,000 from Indiana was a huge surprise, and for a long time I was sure I would end up there. However, as I learned more about their weak job placement I became more concerned. Given their lack of a big market and lots of competition from more established schools in the area, I don't think their weak placement will change by the time I graduate in 2014.

The half-ride from Minnesota was initially my backup, but the more I learned about the school and region the more I realized what a truly quality program it is in a solid market which it dominates. I also think that Minneapolis is a great city with a high quality of life (between April and October at least) and low COL.

I will ride out some waitlists to see if I get any gamechanging offers, but I think I am headed to the Great White North. I feel like I have found a real diamond and am excited for 1L to begin.

Not too shabby considering the giant albatross that was my GPA. That is now history. I have a fantastic opportunity and something to prove.

Ha ha. Georgia is a great school and I thought long and hard about it, but I like Minneapolis a little more. I have a wife and kids who don't want to move after graduation, so UMN is a bit more ideal. Also, the job placement/reputation is slightly better.
