Enrolled at UCLA so unless Duke takes me off their WL and I fit in there, UCLA is it. Thankfully UCLA is really, really nice.

Additional info & updates

2 Excellent Faculty LORs + 1 Amazing Professional/Public Service LOR (I got to read it! Nice recommender and I have framed it)

Seattle U: Decision pending
UW: File Complete

11/29
UCLA: Big unknown, no status checker. File Complete though
GWU: File complete
USC: Under Review
DUKE: File Complete, ready for review

12/2
Georgetown: File Complete, ready for review

12/19 - Got e-mail from Seattle U, Admitted!

December - Georgetown asked to interview me!

1/3/2014 - Got phone call from Director of Admissions, Admitted to UCLA!

1/10/2014 - Admitted to UW!

1/13/2014 - Admitted to USC!

1/14/2014 - Admitted to George Washington!

1/17/2014 - Georgetown current status date change (interview summary submitted is my guess). Interview was quite informative. Think it went well.

Duke: Ready for Review
UC Berkeley: Under Review (for several weeks now)

1/24/2014: No new updates. Unsure if I should let them know I am getting a temporary job in the legal profession =).

1/30/2014: Woah. Duke finally put my application under review. Glory Hallelujah. Got this message - "Your application will go through several reviews. The process is very intensive and may take extra time to complete.
We are unable to provide an exact date of when you will be notified. A decision could be made at any time between now and the end of April."

Told UCB/Duke/Georgetown that I'm working. Work is wonderful. I really enjoy it.

2/22 - USC - $90,000: limited conditions (no class rank requirement <3)!
UCB/Duke/Georgetown - not rejected yet. Stuck in the morass.
2/23 - Duke status check page changed. (removed big block of text) I fear that a decision has been made.
2/24 - Duke waitlisted me. Better than getting rejected!
2/25 - Berkeley rejected me. Sad day.
2/28 - Georgetown rejected me. Sad day.
Final piece of business is writing a LOCI for Duke, then deciding between USC, UCLA, UW and GW. Tough choices.

I would probably take out that you got to read your LOR since you sign a waiver on LSAC saying you waive your rights to see it. Other than that, good luck!

that waiver

refers to getting to see it once you are admitted. LOR writers can do whatever they want with the letter beforehand.

^ The recommenders can let you see them all they want. My recommender really wanted me to see it. I'm glad she showed it to me, gave me a huge self-confidence boost

Yup sent in my FAFSA and Need Access last week! I'm a Cali-resident, so the possibility of in-state tuition/need-grants from UCLA is intriguing. Otherwise for now I'm headed to USC because of the scholly (same as yours!). Where do you want to practice btw? (I'm going to guess that you're from Washington lol). I'm from the West Coast and probably see myself working in Cali so that doesn't leave too many regional law school options in the West :/ Also, are you going to one of the admit days for UCLA and USC respectively? Mann I'll be watching the end of your cycle super closely. That LA VS. SC dilemma, especially with $$ on the line, is gonna come down to the wire hahah

I choose to go to UCLA because of the feel, and though it is slightly less $$ than USC is offering, I go with my gut. And ya, I'm not a CA resident but will be ASAP. I'm going to try to break into BigLaw! It is a tough road, but if you never try you will never have a chance for success! I went to both of the Admit days for USC and UCLA in early March. Both were very nice, wonderful people and schools, it was a tremendously difficult decision. I definitely want to practice in CA. Unfortunately I do not qualify for need-based grants, which really, really sucks, but not much I can do there.

Still undecided

I have exactly one week to decide between UCLA/USC. I got the same scholarship amounts from UCLA as you did, and $105K from USC. The difference in cost in attending is basically USC is $15K cheaper. But I'm already a USC alum so I have the Trojan Network in my bag, so I'm basically deciding if UCLA's network is worth the extra $15K. Pretty tough choice to make. I also definitely want to practice in Cali (LA or OC). Career paths are public service/government/DA-oriented. Dang 1 week! I'll keep you updated bro.
