Additional info & updates

Took the LSAT twice, score went down the second time - really wasn't happy about that. My current top 5 are (in no specific order):
WVU
U of Tennessee-Knoxville
Mercer
Ohio State
Case Western Reserve

Update 9/5/08 - Received a fee waiver from University of Virginia. I guess I'll go for it, even though I don't have a shot there.

Update 1/22/09 - So far, here's the deal...I'm not expecting decent offers from Knoxville or Case, and I really can't afford to go to Ohio with no scholarship or Temple with a nonrenewable 12k scholarship. Therefore, my choices are Mercer or WVU. I'm going in to interview at Mercer (I hope) for the Woodruff Scholarship, which is an additional living stipend. WVU has told me that they cannot give me a living stipend because they only give stipends above tuition to minority applicants. While I feel that this is rather unfair (and arguably unconstitutional under the SCOTUS decision banning schools from using separate applicant pools in making these decisions), I am not going to press the issue on that angle. Instead, I am going to be contacting WVU and attempting to negotiate. If WVU cannot negotiate, then I'm headed to Mercer.

Hey! I got into WVU and they're at the top of my list too. They gave me a full scholarship for tuition but can't cover the fees or living stipend for me. I'm hoping loans will cover the rest. One HUGE advantage to WVU though -- cost of living is really cheap compared to a lot of other places in the country. Rent can be easily found at $300/mo for a pretty good place. I already found a place that's right next to the law school for that much. Great location. Well... just thought I'd say hi to another person seriously interested in going to WVU. I'm so set on wanting WVU that I'm having trouble looking at other schools. Whoops. Emily

I look forward to seeing how your decisions go. I'm also a WVU applicant.
