Additional info & updates

I had apps sent in late October but decided to retake. Earlier score was between 160-165. That was enough to get me into BC for anyone interested. It also got me deferred at Cornell and UT-Austin.

Dinged at UVA

1/16/2011
Dinged at Michigan

01//23/2011
In at UT-Austin via phone call.

Although I forgot to list it I did apply to Notre Dame, which I withdrew from today. I did not receive a decision from them so I hope that it opens up a spot for someone. I will start withdrawing from others soon.

02/03/2012
In at GWU

04/03/2012
Waitlisted at Duke and also recently denied at GULC. I will not be attending law school this cycle as I will be retaking.

06/05/2012
I will be attending UT this year as in early may I have received a scholarship for $90,000 from GWU. UT was able to meet more than halfway which is what I wanted.

My advice for URM splitters is to cast a wide net. I know this is redundant but from my scholarship amounts you can see what a crapshoot the entire endeavor can be. I was seeing "movement" up until the middle of May, so if you're on a wait list you might see yourself pulled off of it with scholarship consideration (i.e.: USC).

Also, try not too worry about this sort of stuff too much. I know it's impossible not to and the rejections can certainly bum you out. Eventually you'll be realistic about where you can get in. You'll (hopefully) stop obsessing over status checkers and really just try to have as much fun as possible, no reason to stop having a life over the application process. While I am disappointed I did not get a T14, I am really happy to be where I am considering I started off at 142 so a 25 point jump is pretty great.
