Additional info & updates

So my gpa has scaled up through my college career, originally I attended community college and didn't fair so well, only to transfer and excel.

Additionally to any schools I apply to here I have 4 in the UK that I have applied to (if your looking at this as a freshman, sophomore in a US school do yourself a major favor and look abroad for your undergrad)

Leicester in the UK was first response/first accept (but they are my last choice anywhere most likely) Pitt was first to accept honestly if they will make a semi competitive offer in part because they are my "home" school and because their study abroad is quite unique. capital came 2nd and while the director of admissions called and told me that I should expect a rather large scholarship package there is no direct answer as of yet on financial aid (but also they are one of the lower choice/ranking) I wasn't going to apply to penn state but apparently all instate students are receiving a 20k a year scholarship (to offset poor applications or something) along with an additional offer, that I have not heard back from..then again I only applied last night.

ok so I was rejected from duquesne (which I find insulting because they are the other local school but at a far lower ranking..but guess it's what I get for applying to a religious school and making it clear I'm atheist) suffolk same story, went and saw Pitt (not like it matters to anyone) but they said they would stay competitive with other offers (which is good because it is my first choice and I'd hate to lose them over a few grand) also heard back from 2 more UK school southampton said yes (to the normal 3 year degree..aka useless to me) and much to the suprise of no1 the great cambridge rejected me

still no update from other schools, sent a few more last week (akron/albany) I hope one of the top 100's get back to me soon with scholarship info..though my intent is to convince pitt to give me a decent offer, I doubt they will match capitals way over the top offer (though a point of interest if I choose capital I may actually be able to graduate without debt or a very small amount)

so I'm really not getting any positive responses lately even the pedophile protecting school said no

akron..at 6k a year tuition it would be insane not to consider it but being as it's a b-/c+ curve and they even state on their scholarship page that it is purposefully aimed at most people losing their scholarships and while it is competitive reading from current students seems to imply it's less friendly competition and more cut throat so..well theres that

Did suffolk give you an account so you can check your status ? It's been several days that I completed my application but I haven't heard from them at all

As a fellow Pittsburgher, I am shocked about Duquesne. Pitt is a better school though, best of luck!

lychee I'm pretty sure they did but I got a paper response..it took I think about 2 months before I heard back and lacst..well as someone who makes it clear where I stand religiously I can fully see why they would want to protect their image..you know from some diversity

thank you. Good luck with your cycle :)

Tuesday, October 29 2013 at 02:16 PM

thanks hm so I clearly have a mixed bag here, schools that should of said yes have said no..while Pitt (my highest ranked/top choice) said yes..so I only have one school left to hear back from..well and maine has me waitlisted

I'm not sure what you mean by 'making it clear you're an athiest.' How did that come up in the application...?

My personal statement has personal elements and how I'm accustomed to "walking a path less traveled" to kind of give a multidimensional view rather than attempting to have something basically saying "Oh hey I was inside of a bank during an armed robbery and one of the investigators asked one question which really got me serious about law school"
