Additional info & updates

11/7- In at Tulsa via email with no scholarship

12/4 - In at Stetson via email with $7,500 per year scholarship

12/11 - Denied from Oklahoma University via email

12/20 - In at Mercer via email with $18,000 per year scholarship. I have applied for the Woodruff Scholarship which is Full Tuition plus $5,000 living stipend

1/9 - In at Syracuse via email with no scholarship

1/22 - In at LSU via email

1/30 Emailed to ask Tulsa to reconsider for a scholarship. They have kept in contact but no decision yet

2/3 - Mail arrived with $10,000 per year scholarship to LSU

2/3 Asked Syracuse to reconsider for a scholarship. COA is extremely high here

2/4 In at Ole Miss via email

2/4 - In at West Virginia University via Status Checker. Called and spoke to the Dean of Admissions which let me know I received a $15,000 per year scholarship.

2/4 - Emailed Stetson Univerisity to be reviewed for a potential increase in scholarship

2/13 - Email from Mercer letting me know I am not a finalist for the Woodruff Scholarship. Expected but it still blows.

2/14 - Another Email to Syracuse which gets the response that they will not negotiate and all I will receive is Need-based aid. Considering how high the COA is they have successfully moved themselves to the very bottom of my list

2/25 - After what seems like years my file at South Carolina is finally under review.

2/25 - After negotiating with Tulsa, I was ultimately awarded $8,000 per year as long as I maintain a 2.0 GPA

2/28 - I withdrew from Syracuse. When you have an annual COA of $64,700 and refuse to negotiate money when I got offers from higher ranked schools that won't swamp me in debt it makes it an easy choice. Hopefully this will open a spot for someone on the waitlist.

3/4 - Emailed Ole Miss to see if they would be offering any sort of scholarship

3/7 - South Carolina has mailed their decision, but I won't find out about it till I receive the mail. Others have started getting ASW emails, so if I get one of those I will know what happened before the mail arrives.

3/7 - Update on USC: Just got an email for Admitted Student Day. I think it would be safe to assume that means I have been accepted.

3/15 - I received a letter from USC stating that I had been awarded the non-resident merit scholarship which is basically a way to have in-state tuition. This makes USC my clear #1 right now

4/1 - After taking visits and looking into the pro's and con's of each school I have decided I will be attending University of South Carolina

Did you request the scholarship from Mercer?

Tuesday, April 02 2013 at 02:03 AM

No, I received a phone call about 15 minutes after the accepted email arrived and they told me the amount.

We have a lot of the same schools and it sounds like we are both approaching negotiations the same way. Which school is your number one?

I know this is the cliche answer but my top school will probably be whichever is most financially feasable. Right now Top-3 would be LSU, WVU and Mercer but I am going to attempt to negotiate all over

I think more people than ever are basing their decisons on cost vs.employment stats... its not that cliche. I'm looking forward to the upcoming emploment #'s especially mercer's. http://www.lstscorereports.com/?school=mercer

Any updates on the reconsideration???

They moved it from 7500 a year to 9000 so they were pretty cheap with it considering some of my other offers.

Have you notified LSU that you won't be attending in the fall? Please shoot them a quick email if you haven't. Thanks!
