Extra Curricular Information

I have two excellent academic letters of recommendation and decent softs. I have been heavily involved in leadership positions for our student government for the past 2 years, I have held important fraternity positions and I have participated in extensive volunteer work through various organizations. Hopefully this all helps my app out as my GPA is very weak and my grade trend... doesn't really exist. Some excellent semesters, some crap ones all intermixed over four years.

Additional info & updates

04/04/10

Well, sealed the deal on SMU a few days ago. I received an acceptance from Georgia State and Alabama about a week ago but no money from either so no go for me. Looking back on my cycle, I wished that I had swapped out a few of my lower ranked schools for some better ones but all in all it has been an excellent admissions process. If I could have changed one thing about the way I handled it though I would have taken the LSAT in June and NOT SEPTEMBER. This way I could have reapplied. Anyway, good times ahead in Dallas!

03/10/10

It's been a while since I've gotten anything in the mail or online, but I received the dreaded waitlist email from UGA today. I'm on it for the time being, I just hope that either I get in off of it really soon or 'Bama sends me an acceptance. SMU would still be cool, but I'm really hoping for Alabama... I guess I just have to wait and see what happens.

02/25/10

IN AT SMU (via phone call, they tell me my packet is in the mail)!!! I am definitely going to accept their offer unless 'Bama can come through with an acceptance and some serious cash. I couldn't be happier, thats for sure!

02/24/10

In at ASU with a little scholy on the side. Exciting, but I have absolutely zero desire to stay in this state much longer and thus am going to withdraw quite soon. In other news, I've been notified via status checker that I have been held for further review at UGA and Georgia State U. They are to let me know if I have been accepted/ rejected no later than April 1st. No love for me in Georgia I guess.

02/23/10

In at U of Houston via status checker. No scholy information but hopefully I won SOMETHING as Houston has moved up to near my top as my girlfriend could actually find a job in Houston as opposed to, say, Lexington. Finally, to round things out I received a rejection from Wake Forest today which is somewhat of a bummer but whatever my cycle has been great so far.

02/17/10

Got packets in the mail from most all of my admits with info last night, as well as the thin white envelope from Duke today making it official. Kentucky offered me more $$ in the form of in-state tuition, so I think thats my current choice. I'm planning on withdrawing from Mizzou, Denver, Florida, DePaul, Tennessee and Catholic at some point this week so that other people can have my spot at these places. Hope it helps someone out with the WL. Still waiting to hear from the rest though, and the wait is killing me!

02/15/10

Reject from Duke this morning, but I managed to get into U of Florida via snail mail which is great news. I wasn't expecting to get into Duke anyway, figured I apply just in case heh.

02/12/10

It's been a busy week! Just got an acceptance from Tennessee AND Mizzou today with small scholys for each. Very exciting, but I still think UK is my current choice. 6-0, hopefully this keeps up!

02/11/10

Email from Denver! Great, as Colorado is an awesome state and Denver a vibrant city for sure. But the school is expensive and not too highly ranked, so I would have a hard time justifying going there. Come on top 5, get back to me already.

02/08/10

Email from Kentucky, as well as a phone call with scholy information. Breaking into the 50's is a great feeling, especially after only hearing back from a few of my safes. I wouldn't mind Kentucky I guess, but still shooting for 'Bama and Wake...

02/04/10

DePaul today, came in with an offer for a 45,000 scholy in a large, nondescript envelope that had "WELCOME TO DEPAUL" written all over it. About 6 months ago I would have been psyched to go to Chicago at all, but I need to do better than DePaul unfortunately. Shame, because I really love Chicago.

01/28/10

Email from Catholic U this afternoon, good stuff with a solid scholy (30k). I'm originally from northern VA so this is great news, and its great to have somewhere to go next year for sure. 1 down, waaay too many to go.

Please note that I applied and went complete at all of my chosen schools over the period of a week at the beginning of January (01/04/10 to 01/06/10).

Hey Janet, yeah it said that stuff under in my fees section too before I got the admit. As well, all of my other schools did that too before I got the admit. Duke didn't, so that may be a good sign for you. Hope it's good news haha

Congrats on all of your acceptances so far. I read that you are withdrawing from ASU. Thank you for doing it as soon as possible as that may free up some scholarship money for others. Thankss and good luck! Why are you in such a hurry to leave AZ? I was also accepted at Universitu of Houston around the same time as you and have not seen anything from them yet.

I'm just bored here, not too much to do in this state. Plus the weather plain blows, at first it's nice but after four years it starts wearing on you heh. I got a letter in the mail from U of Houston about 2 weeks ago, so maybe a week after the status checker changed to accepted.

Congrats on your acceptances! I wish you the best of luck. If you rule out ASU will you please withdraw? I'm hoping for some scholarship money to free up for me.

Congrats on choosing SMU. I just made the same choice! If you're looking for a roommate, let me know. I'm probably going to look for a 3BR in the Village.
