Michigan: "We understand the anxiety that the law school admissions process can cause, and are therefore writing to update you on the status of your file in an effort to alleviate at least some of that stress ... your application file has been reviewed at least once and we have found much to admire. A variety of reasons can account for why, notwithstanding at least one round of review, we have not already rendered a speedy final decision ... we recognize you have been waiting patiently, and we appreciate that." (01/17/14)

Columbia: "Because we are uncertain regarding the plans of some applicants whom we have already admitted, it is necessary for us to postpone making a determination on your application until the end of May, when we will begin reviewing those candidates on Reserve and offering some admission to our 2014 class." (02/07/2014)

Georgetown: "Applicants on the Preferred Waiting List are among those we would like to include in our first year class. These applicants have the strongest credentials of all waiting list candidates and, as a result, receive priority consideration if spaces become available. Offers of admission to waiting list candidates may be made up until registration day in August." (02/21/14)

Cornell: "Our Admissions Committee has reviewed your application and has placed your name on reserve... Our several-hundred-person reserve group (of which you are now a part) helps us keep in line with... target levels. Then, later in the season after we've begun to hear back from people already accepted (usually by mid-to-late May), we decide if further offers are appropriate. If so, we review the files of all reserve applicants and make additional offers. At that point, we also create our official waiting list." (04/25/14) [06/11/14] {06/23/14}

Columbia: "At this moment, we are still unable to make a final determination of your application status. However, since we anticipate some vacancies becoming available during the summer, we are continuing to hold your application in our Reserve group... The next determination concerning candidates on Reserve will begin at the end of June." (06/13/14)

Cornell: "We are writing to let you know that we have placed your name on our summer waiting list. This list consists of a group of strong candidates for whom there currently is no space available in our entering class. Openings can occur at any time during the summer, including late August. However, because of the late date, deferments of admission will not be available to people admitted from the waiting list." (06/23/14)
