I put more weight on geographic preference, quality of life and scholarship money than prestige alone.

3+ years full-time work experience in environmental consulting. Just got back from traveling around the world.

More Info:
* Michigan: Dean's Scholarship ($54,000)
* Vanderbilt: Wade Scholarship ($125,000)
* Penn: Levy Scholarship ($75,000)
* Chicago: $50,000 Scholarship
* Virginia: Dean's Scholarship ($66,000)

Not sure what happened with Northwestern. I did the Why NW essay with complete sincerity, thought the interview went well and have lots of work experience. I'm not that broken up, though.

someone who is not a slave to US NEWS. Congrats on those wonderful acceptances, and best of luck on the rest.

that northwestern rejection is ridiculous; mustve been yield protection. With your numbers they prolly thought they didn't have a chance at pullin someone with such obvious HYS potential - how were they to know you weren't even applying? :) Oh well, it's their loss anyway... Congrats on ur other acceptances; where are u going?

Thanks to all... partyguy, you are right - I am pretty skeptical about rankings. Just want the school that can do the best for my own career goals. I did interview at NW, though during the last application cycle (prior to leaving to travel). The student who interviewed me seemed hungover - maybe he did a shoddy job on the paperwork (or maybe I didn't do all that well!). I heard about the Vandy money about 3 weeks ago. I am visiting the school for their admitted students day - we'll see... So, where I am going is completely up in the air... I keep feeling drawn to Penn, though...

it's reassuring to see someone else who can appreciate more than the rankings - see you at penn in the fall!
