Additional info & updates

LSAT on October 1. 2011-12 cycle. 170. I'm fine with it, keeps me from re-taking.

Fee waivers have started rolling in:
10/26: Michigan, NYU, W&L, William and Mary, UT-Austin, Northeastern, U of Richmond, Santa Clara (lol). Only applying to 2 of these schools, but it's sort of an ego boost knowing that lots of decent law schools would like to have me.

10/26 (cont.): Columbia fee waiver just arrived in my Inbox. Mildly surprised, because my LSAT is slightly below their median. Hmm... :)

10/27: New batch of fee waivers: Northwestern, UCLA, WashU in St. Louis, Wake Forest, Pittsburgh, Case Western, Temple.

10/27 (cont.): Sent in my application to UC Berkeley today. Went to "Under Review" within several hours. Bad sign?

10/28: Some more fee waivers: UChicago, Vanderbilt, UMinnesota, Boston University, Emory, Cincinnati, Tulane, St. John's.
Complete at UPenn!

10/30: Georgetown app is sent. I felt that this was one of my strongest apps in terms of giving the adcom a comprehensive portrait of myself. Now if I can just get the motivation to finish my Harvard application...

10/31: I've had at least one confirmation email from every school I've applied to, except for UMich and NYU. I wonder why they haven't even confirmed receipt of my materials yet...

11/2: Received emails today from both UMich and NYU. One less worry on my mind. Also received fee waivers from GW, USC-Gould, Creighton, Wisconsin, Toledo, Syracuse, and Vermont.

11/3: Not much movement today, been "Under Review" at UC Berkeley--as well as complete at Duke and UVA--for a week now. Got a fee waiver from BYU today also and snail mail packets from Cornell and NYU.

11/4: Snail mail viewbooks from Vanderbilt and USC.

11/7: Now, "Application Completed" at Georgetown. "Under Review" at NYU. Snail mail packet from Michigan with a hand-authored fee waiver and note about my "flawless undergraduate record." Nice touch, UMich! Also, Notre Dame fee waiver.

11/9: Complete at WashU. Just a few more fee waivers to report: Miami, DePaul, Ohio State, South Carolina, Indiana, Quinnipiac. Went complete 2 weeks ago at: Duke, UVA, UC Berkeley.

11/10: Got the status checker email from UMich and am finally complete.

11/14: Just a viewbook from Columbia today and some spam from a few TTs. Man, waiting has already become a burden...

11/15: Received a friendly email today from UMich, asking about my work experience since graduation. Also a fee waiver from Mizzou.

11/17: Under Review at UChicago!

11/29: Last update at Georgetown was 11/21, so hopefully I'll have an acceptance via snail mail this week! They didn't send this batch of letters out until after Thanksgiving.

12/1: ACCEPTED via snail mail to Georgetown! Handwritten note from Dean Cornblatt. First one feels really nice :)

12/6: Vanderbilt status checker says "Decision Mailed, 12/5." I live 2 hours from Nashville, so I'm expecting that FedEx ACCEPTANCE pacakage from Vandy today :)

12/13: Phone call from UVA today! Anne Richard let me know they are mailing an ACCEPTANCE package to me. And she threw a lil $ at me...

12/14: Status updated at WashU for the first time.

12/19: In at UMich via ACCEPTED Students' Website! What I really wanted today was a UChicago acceptance, though.

12/20: ACCEPTANCE phone call from Ann Perry at the University of Chicago. Looks like my cycle is over!

Application to UVA: Sent! I did not submit a "Why UVA?" but instead went with an addendum (they only have a spot for 1 attachment other than PS and Conduct). 2 down, 10 to go!

Application to Penn: Sent! Did not submit a "Why Penn?" but instead opted to write one of the optional, additional essays (the one about literature and law). 3 down, 9 left!

Got the Duke application out as well. I submitted it with a DS for optional essay II.

UMich: Sent! Submitted with a "Why Michigan" and an addendum as my 2 optional essays.

Today was Columbia and Berkeley. Glad to have them out of the way. FWIW, their applications were virtually identical. 3 page PS, 1 spot for additional info/addendum, no optional essays for either.

Got my Stanford and UChicago apps out today. Went ED for Chicago after a long conversation with the fiancee, and it seems like Chicago is a perfect fit for her. It goes without saying, of course, that I love the school as well!

You got it. Good luck this cycle. I'm jealous of your Chicago and Columbia fee waivers (I think I sent my transcripts in too late).

UVA would throw some love my way.

Huh

I did a why UVa, and I am quite proud of my PS. I'm not too concerned, just miffed. I am really excited re: Chicago, though. They seem to give people with our numbers a lot of money, and the employment prospects are incredible (especially in this economy).
