Additional info & updates

5/19: I am withdrawing from all other schools and submitting all deposit fees to UCD. Great yet stressful cycle.

Final score is: 7-7-2.

Only real one that counts though is the Davis acceptance.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5/16: Received large white first class envelope in mail from UC Davis. In at Davis!!! Acceptance letter also had a small handwritten note in the corner. The admissions officer said they were happy to admit me, and that they thought I'd be a good fit. I can't believe how happy I am. I actually landed my Dream school.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5/15: Recieved large white envolope in mail from Loyola. Accepted off of waitlist. I was out of town at the time, I recieved a phone call from a roommate.

Also, toured Pepperdine campus. Um... doesn't even look like a school, more like a resort. Really, I am shocked that people get to live like that. Hands down the best campus ever. It literally feels like you're at a five star resort.

Concerning fact though, ran into a current student during the tour (group had me and a guest, plus another applicant with their guest), the student knew the other applicant and they all proceeded to talk about the church group of the law school. The tour guide even chimed in. This was immediately after we were told about how frequent justices Thomas, Scalia and Alito visit the campus. Trust me, this school really is a religious / conservative haven. It comes across VERY strongly.

Not really inline with my perspectives.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5/12: Toured UCD campus. Love it. The admissions officer gave me a personal tour since it was finals week. Campus is average, and has a bunker type of feel to it, nothing too impressive... but the fact the admin officer knew every students name and back story that we passed in the hall -- well, it really sold me.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5/11: Recieved email from Loyola asking if I was still interested in attending. Letter read:

"Thank you for submitting your Waitlist Response Form to Loyola Law School | Los Angeles. The Admissions Committee will begin evaluating waitlist candidates for reconsideration in the next few days. Because your file will be selected for reconsideration, I am writing to inquire whether you are still interested in attending Loyola.

In my experience, the Admissions Committee will request this reconfirmation only for students they are strongly considering admitting. Once I have received your response, the Admissions Committee will send decision information very soon."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5/7: Waitlisted at Pepperdine via small, slightly stuffed envelope. Now I'm starting to get bogged down with waitlists.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5/6: Scheduled campus tour of UCD for 5/12 at 2:00.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5/5: Called up a former vendor partner from work and asked for a letter of recommendation to be sent to Davis on my behalf. He agreed and I became one step closer to staying in CA for law school.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5/4: Sent LOCI to Davis, also included an updated resume. Emailed it directly to records office... lady there is nice.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5/1: Waitlisted at UCD, and VERY happy about it!!! Discovered it via on-line status checker. Also was accepted into Santa Clara today, meh.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4/21: Hastings ding. Small white envelope.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4/20: Dinged by Boston in small white envelope. Completely expected, but hopefully my last ding.

Also received letter from Fordham today, making the status checker official. I'm glad that school dropped 8 places in USNews rankings.

Finally, Santa Clara went from "2nd review" on the status checker to "in committee". I continue to be shocked that I haven't gotten in yet.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4/20: Updated my choice rankings.

Still based off my preferences, although TLS's leaking of the '10 rankings knocked Chi-Kent down, strengthen USF and validated my Davis crush.

Davis 35. Hastings 39. Wow.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4/13: Just got home to find the official packet from Chicago-Kent. Arrived via medium sized white envelope. Inside is options between two scholarships. $12.0 per year - straight up, or $20.0 per year if I maintain 3.25. NFW! Chicago-Kent just shot up to the top of my list.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4/13: Received email from USF, they considered my 4/10 letter and extended an $18.5 first year scholarship offer.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4/10: In at Chicago-Kent via email. Letter to come soon, hopefully with some money.

Sent letter to USF financial aid office, requesting scholarship consideration. Said it pretty much point blank: I need money or I can't attend.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4/7: Sent LOCI and updated resume to Loyola, included in with "I'd like to remain on the waitlist" form they sent. Planning on sending follow up LOCI every month going forward.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4/1: All applications have gone into complete status.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3/30: Received rejection letter from Minnesota in a small white envelope. Received waitlist from Loyola in a small, over-stuff whited envelope. I'm putting on the gloves to fight for Loyola.

Good news though (I think) Davis status checker changed from "Application Received - Processing in Progress" to "Evaluation in Process". Hopefully this means I'm closer to a decision than not.... hopefully it's a good one too.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3/27: Just got home and found a decision letter from George Mason in the mail. Unfortunately denied. This one really sucks. GMU was a reach school that I really thought I'd have a chance at. All other people with my index at this school have gotten waitlisted... I was straight out denied. I am becoming very concerned with the remainder of this cycle. Also accompanying the GMU rejection was my official U Illinois rejection letter. I already knew via status checker, but the letter paired with GMU somehow hurts a little more.

I'm now sub .500: 3-4-0

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3/27: Status checkers from Loyola and Minnesota both say decision reached today. Obviously Minnesota is a no, I'm just waiting for the letter. Loyola is a toss up. I'm placing it as a waitlist, although if it's an acceptance I'd be very happy. I could really use it, I'm starting to feel down about the remaining prospects.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3/26: Third rejection came from Fordham via status checker.

I'm now 3-3-0.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3/21: Second rejection came from Emory. Small envelope, with single page letter.

I have entered the Spring of my discontent.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3/20: First rejection came from U of Illinois. I expected this, but was secretly hoping for a waitlist.

Rejection via status checker, abrasively reads "denied."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3/12: Accepted to American via large envelope.

I'm 3-0-0 now.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3/11: Accepted to USF via email. I was actually cursing this school earlier b/c status checker showed a decision was rendered on 3/9 but I didn't get the email until today. During the 2.5 day span I read other LSN profiles and became certain that I was getting waitlisted or even rejected at USF; my safety school. The lull between status checker "decision rendered" and the acceptance email I received was so long, that I truly believed I didn't get in.

I'm much happier now, but REALLY dislike USF now b/c of the wait.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3/6: Received UOP acceptance via large white envelope. The package was sent priority mail dated 3/5. Inside is essentially the McGeorge media kit, complete with their alumni package (which on the first page asks for donations). Personalized welcome to McGeorge pamphlet was inside, detailing their offer. Offer includes 12,000 annual, plus first year books, renewable if I stay at top third of the class. The catch is I need to confirm that I'll attend McGeorge by April 1 to retain the scholarship. Hopefully I'll hear back from the rest of my schools before then. One more thing...

I'm going to law school!!!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3/3: Via UOP status checker there's been a decision rendered. This will be my first decision, and I don't believe there's ever been a time that I've been more excited to get something in the mail.

UOP is my second lowest safety school, so I'm 99% certain it will be an acceptance, the real value of this letter is to see what scholarship I'm offered. If I'm offered 10K annually then I've overestimated my work experience and other softs. Over 10K and this could be a great cycle for me, under 10 or nothing at all would be very bad. If I don't get in... probably would be the end of my world.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2/28: I'm continuing to doubt the schools I've applied to. So I added two more today... this will be my last adds to the cycle. I'm now a candidate for both Chicago-Kent and Cardozo as of today.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2/26: Today I decided to apply to GMU as well. I've been obsessing over the graph option in LSN for target schools and realized I need to apply to more reach-"ish" school.

I'm happy with the application. I compressed my Pstatement down to 500 words and surprisingly it's just as strong. Also, GMU app was free - not counting LSAC's 12.00 "report" fee.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2/25: I received a notice that the Emory application was received. Big relief; Emory was my last 2/8 submissions that I hadn't heard from.

I'm starting to realize that Emory is my only true T30 reach school. The others in T30 that I applied to are throw aways given my numbers. Now I REALLY want Emory. I also have a gut feeling that I'll get my first decision in the next week. Gut, don't let me down.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2/24: I feel really behind the ball. I've just completed my last application (Pepperdine)... and now we play the waiting game.
