Additional info & updates

12/1
First acceptance at UH Manoa! My home school.

12/9
Accepted at UCLA! Very surprised to hear back this early, but couldn't be happier!

12/21
Accepted at USC via email! Financial aid details to be released beginning in late January. California is lighting up so far.

12/25
Accepted at Georgetown, one of my top 5!! Found out online via admitted students website. Letter arrived via snail mail a few days later dated 12/19.

1/10
Invited to interview at WUSTL.

1/12
Accepted to Boston University!

1/17
In at UC Berkeley via status checker!! Received acceptance email about 30 minutes later. Very happy to have received one of my top 3 choices! :)

1/19
Accepted to UT Austin! The dean left a very nice voicemail.

1/23
Waitlisted at Penn via email. It was bound to happen sooner or later, Penn has been very selective this cycle. At least it wasn't a ding!

1/24
Interviewed with WUSTL. It was very conversational and the admissions officer spent a good chunk of time explaining what the school has to offer, in particular with regard to my interests.

1/26
Accepted to WUSTL via email!

2/8
Put on "reserve" at Columbia (their version of a waitlist). Columbia was always a reach for me so I'm glad it wasn't an outright ding!

2/9
Interview request from UChicago! Was shocked since I had been under review for over 6 weeks. If you've been UR for awhile, don't lose faith!

2/11
Waitlisted at Duke as part of their "Priority Reserve" list. It seems Duke is being more selective than usual this year, a lot of WLs going out today.

2/16
Interviewed w/ UChicago. It was much more of a "professional" style interview where the questions came one right after the other; wasn't very conversational like WUSTL's interview. Lasted 22 minutes.

2/17
Waitlisted at Michigan. Kinda bummed because other applicants with similar stats were accepted in previous cycles, but I guess things just didn't click :/ surprisingly no dings yet, but Michigan is my fourth waitlist (in a row)

3/1
In at UChicago via status checker!!! UChicago was always a huge reach for me and I honestly cannot believe that this is real. This was tremendously great news to break the string of waitlists :D If you're below the medians, don't count yourself out; apply anyway and you may be pleasantly surprised!!

3/30
First ding of the cycle from Harvard. It was always a huge reach, and the lack of an interview request made an acceptance very unlikely. Oh well, four more schools to go!

4/3
In at NYU via phone call!!! I am shocked and humbled to have the amazing options that I do. This is going to be a really tough decision to make.

4/10
Waitlisted at UVA; surprised it took them this long to reach a decision. Only two more schools to go!

4/17
Waitlisted at Stanford! It was such a nail-biter waiting this long for an answer. It wasn't the answer I wanted, but I'm glad to have made it this far. Will definitely be staying on for the long haul, but looks like the decision will likely be between UChicago and NYU. 2.5 weeks to decide!

4/18
WAITLISTED AT YALE!! Never in a million years did I think I'd even have a shot at Yale with my numbers. I'm completely floored--even if it doesn't lead to anything in the end, which is very likely, I'm truly glad to be able to end my cycle with this surprise. Never doubt yourself or your capabilities just because of your stats. Throw your hat in the ring and see what happens!!

4/29
Deposited at UChicago!!! It was tough to turn down the extra money from NYU, but after visiting both schools and giving it an immense amount of thought, UChicago felt like the right choice. Will ride out Y and S waitlists for a bit, but otherwise I can't wait to be in the Windy City this fall!

**I am happy to answer any questions about my cycle or advice for applying, even if you stumble upon this way into the future. Just send me a PM.

Why are you surprised to get into these good schools or to get waitlisted? Your numbers are excellent! What happened with Stanford?!
