Additional info & updates

Currently working as a retail manager for a luxury retailer. Finally decided that I'm ready to go back to school to get my JD. I want to work in entertainment or sports law.

LSAT
FYI about LSATS for anyone who is curious about my scores. My initial LSAT was taken as a senior in college and I really did not study much, and had decided at the time that I did not want to go to law school the next year. My score was a terrible 137, and although I had legit test anxiety, this was an utter embarrassment. After settling into my career and realizing that I was mentally prepared to go for my dream, I first applied for an LSAT fee waiver, as at the time I was really struggling with student loan debt. When I got my waiver (which is def. not as hard as they make it seem to get!), I immediately signed up for my first LSAT and received my free study book, busted out my old one from the last test, and bought LSAT for dummies, which was surprisingly the best resource I had. I studied on my lunch breaks and days off and improved my score by 13 points, getting a 150. My test anxiety still kicked in a bit, but I tried to take several practice tests in coffee shops and other places that could get slightly noisy so I would be less distracted by a sneeze or someone tapping a pencil.

2/8 Still in review at UNLV and Widener. Dayton has no system of looking up your status so I'm still in limbo with that. I applied to Miami on the second and Southwestern on the 5th. I still haven't gotten word from either that my application was received. I didn't come across Southwestern until a few days ago and they have an entertainment law center which looks absolutely amazing for me. I'm hoping I get in, but I know it is a reach.

2/13 I still have not received a confirmation email acknowledging the receipt of my application at Miami or Southwestern. Kind of nerve wracking, considering every other school I applied to sent one within two days. Also checked Widener and UNLV statuses via status tracker and both are still in review. Dayton is still in limbo as they have no tracking system. Has anyone else experienced the long wait with Miami or Southwestern for receiving apps?

2/22 Sent emails to Miami and Southwestern a few days ago to find out why I have not received any sort of confirmation for my applications. I hope I hear from them soon..

2/25 Got accepted to Widener via status tracker and update email at 5 am! Southwestern got back to me about the status email, apparently my undergrad deleted all alum emails without notice. Miami got back to me with a rude email and link to a status tracker denying me. Ah, well.

I decided that while the Miami area is great for people interested in Entertainment law, and St. Thomas has a lot of great classes for this, I would take a shot at applying to The University of Miami, a tier 1 school. I figure I may as well try and see how it goes.

Just curious about your time line for Drexel. Did you send on 12/17 and go complete on 1/15/10? I was complete on 01/07/10 and have not heard back yet. Thanks

It was complete sooner than that, but when I went to type it in LSN wouldn't let me change. I've noticed that since the beginning of the year, schools are taking longer to send the "application complete" email or letter. Drexel snail mailed me a letter about a week after I applied saying my app was complete and under review. They are really going for tier one after their conditional period so they are super selective. Good luck!!

Good luck! Your hard work will pay off. Dont settle.

Widener informs you of scholarship money in the online portal. However, if you get something like a dorm scholarship they will send that about a week or two later.
