Additional info & updates

I've been waiting to make this until my cycle ended because I'm paranoid of being identified (neurotic, I know), but I used this site a lot going through the process, both to gauge my own shot at schools and as fodder for self-imposed agony, so I thought I'd give back by posting my own profile on here.

The dates for decision are not necessarily 100% accurate, but are accurate within a week... I'm way too lazy to look back through my email and phone to find the exact dates.

A little more info:

I only applied to schools I had a serious interest in going to/would conceivably attend if accepted. From looking on here and other sites and from talking to others about my profile, I also figured I would have a good shot of getting into at least one of these schools, and I thought I was applying early enough that I could always add more schools in the event of a catastrophe.

As far as my advice for future applicants: don't be afraid of writing a risky personal statement, and definitely draw attention to parts of your application that differentiate you from the thousands of other applicants with similar stats/extracurriculars.

One last footnote: I'm LGBT and don't know if this is considered URM from an admissions perspective?? Either way I thought I'd include it just so everyone could have a better idea of my entire 'candidacy.'

Overall, I am definitely a little heartbroken about Stanford (dream school - would have gone in a heartbeat), but am obviously thrilled and excited about YLS '17.

Do you have any idea what happened with SLS? Did you write a personalized statement for SLS specifically? You seem like a perfect candidate!

I don't know if anything "happened," stanford is just hard as hell to get into apparently. Even for my range of stats mylsn reports less than 1 in 3 getting in. And no, my application to stanford was the same as all my others. I actually have two friends with the same or better stats than I do who also got into yale and one was rejected and the other was waitlisted at stanford this year, so who knows what's going on in the stanford law admissions black box this year.
