Extra Curricular Information

Interesting soft factors--one is a leadership position that I think works well in my favor, another is a factor that I think slightly works against me. We'll see, though.

PM me if you have any questions.

Numbers are changed slightly... /- 1 forLSAT, /-.1 for GPA

Went to a non-prestigious undergrad (for good reason)--ending up doing well there and getting really involved...

Going to UChicago!

Additional info & updates

I've applied to more than four schools, and as I hear back, I'm keeping it all updated. Applied pretty early to almost all the schools that I applied to and my application philosophy was that I would only apply to a school if I would be happy going there if it turned out that I only got into that school... sure, I could've applied to 40 schools for free, but why? Additionally, all my essays were specifically tailored (not specifically written for each school) to the school and specific programs.

10/9/09: Accepted to Duke through email... not priority track. Definitely excited about this one... it's good to know I'll be going to law school!

12/7/09: Accepted to NYU through mail! Woohoo!

12/14/09: Just got off the phone with Cordell Faulk... Dean's Scholarship at UVA!

12/29/09: Call from Ann Perry! In at Chicago!!

1/6/10: Update from Harvard--my application is being held... better than being rejected/waitlisted, although who knows what's coming next.

1/12/10: Held at Michigan and Penn... contemplated sending LOCIs, probably not going to.

2/2/10: People don't really get accepted to Yale, right?

2/24/10: Financial aid info from Chicago came through mail... 30,000! Still waiting for a letter from Duke...

2/26/10: Waitlisted at Michigan--promptly withdrew

4/1/10: Accepted Chicago's offer of admission. Withdrew from everywhere else. It was down to Chicago, NYU, and Virginia. NYU's main selling point was that it was in NY (not a selling point for me). Virginia gave me an amazing scholarship, but I turned it down. Chicago just seems to offer so much in terms of the academics and the experience and I'm really excited for it.
