Volunteered as a New Student Orientation Leader in the Spring and Fall of 2007

Volunteered as a Dancer (Spring 2007) in my school's Dance Marathon to benefit children with cancer and blood disorders. The event raised over 200k. My part involved standing for 32 hrs. w/o sitting or sleeping as well as raising money.

Volunteered as a Captain in my schools Dance Marathon (Fall 2007-Spring 2009), one of the highest 3 positions in the event, involving an interview process to get "hired." The event raised over 300k both of those years.

Fraternity

Volunteered for the ALS walk put on by the ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia.

Raised money (a few thousand) for the ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia with my fraternity brothers through a Greek wide pay-to-enter pushcart event.

Studied Abroad in Australia during the Spring of 2009.

Honors College.

Writing an honors thesis for English.

Received a Mobility Scholarship to study abroad.

1/28: In at GW. I only submitted on 1/15 so that was surprisingly fast. $105,400 scholarship offer that includes free first year housing in the Aston. This will be something to seriously consider! :)

2/18: In at BU.

2/18: Rejected at Berkeley. Apparently they're seriously about submitting early.

02/19: Waitlisted at Georgetown. Priority Preffered Waitlist, aka "Preferred-preferred" waitlist. I have to say this one was a bit surprising...

02/20: Priority Reserve list at Duke. I'm starting to wonder if one of my LOR writers wrote something terrible about me, or if something in my app is off putting?

02/22: Scholarship offer from BU: 90k over three years. 20k in merit aid, 10k in need based aid / year.

03/09: Waitlisted at UVa. Now it all comes down to the big four in my book... plus UCLA and Cardozo.

03/15: In at Georgetown, off the waitlist. Very happy about this one.

03/20: Held at Columbia. We'll see how this pans out, but I'm thrilled to even merit careful consideration. = )

03/22: In at UCLA via phone call from Dean Schwartz.

03/22: In at Cardozo via phone call. Let's hope these two admits are the beginning of a good week.

04/01: Withdrew from Cardozo. Holding on to the rest of my admits for the time being.

04/19: Reserve at Columbia. Womp womp.

04/22: Waitlisted at NYU, letter dated 4/15. NYU was obviously among my top choices, if not the very top, so I'm pretty sad about the WL.

04/22: Dean's Grant from Georgetown. 30k/yr!!!!!!!!! I'm not listing it in my scholarships since it's a grant, but who cares about the title. 90k at GULC!!!

04/27: Rejected at Chicago. Pretty surprised it's a flat out rejection.

04/27: Waitlisted at Penn, and now all the decisions have been made. I'm going to wait some schools out I think.

04/29: Offered another 10k/yr at GULC in merit aid, bringing the new total to 120k in grants and scholarships. I decided I'd actually put it in the scholarship section, because I like seeing that many zero's next to Georgetown. =)

05/06: The choice came down to accepting the offer from GULC or reapplying. I thought long and hard about it, visited DC, spoke to lots of helpful people at Georgetown, and made my decision. I'm very happy. =)
