Additional info & updates

11/3/2009: Waiting to hear is brutal. I may end up applying to more schools just to keep myself busy.

12/1/2009: Recieved two big packages from Miami and Suffolk in the last two weeks. It's nice to kick off the cycle with two acceptances, especially since I fully expect a few rejections in the upcoming weeks. Pretty sure I'm not getting into GWU early, so I'm praying for either Emory or Cardozo.

12/09/2009: In at Northeastern via small envelope with a nice 25,500 scholarship over 3 years. Still would need plenty of financial aid but it's nice to hear.

12/10/2009: In at Maryland! No scholarship, but it's one of the top schools for health care law so it's verrryyyy tempting.

12/16/2009: Got a small letter of rejection from BC. Pretty surprised, I assumed I was a shoo-in for the waitlist. Not so surprised by the UVA rejection email an hour later. Oh well, my streak had to end sometime. RIP UVA Law dream, RIP.

12/22/2009: Received scholarship letter from Miami after getting an email telling me it was coming.

1/12/2010: Came back from Mexico to find a big packet from Pepperdine. The next day got a lovely call from Cardozo with scholarship info. On the other side of the spectrum, pretty sure Georgetown tried to reject me, but used my now expired college email. SUCKERS!
Also getting really stressed out about Emory. LSN is bad for my health.

1/15/2010: Waitlisted from GWU via small envelope. Is it sad that I got giddy over a waitlist? Also, today Northeastern sent me another acceptance packet, identical to the first, minus the scholarship information... What do you think THAT means?
Forgot to mention I was "held" at Illinois for a second review a few weeks ago. I would update it above, but LSN and reality don't have a "held" category. Sorry, Illinois.

1/29/2010: Officially waitlisted from Illinois

2/9/2010: Rejected from Harvard via email then waitlisted at BU via email attachment. Are you there, Emory? I think of you often. Do you ever think of me? You're not being very nice, accepting all these 166's.
Also, American: seriously? Seriously? My application was complete at the begining of November. I would so go there! One point higher on the LSATs I'm in at Emory, one point lower I'm in at American. Fml.

2/17/2010: Been putting off writing for a while. Officially waitlisted from American. For real. As in, they're not totally sure I'm up to their standards. If lsn let users stylize text blocks, I would italicize "their." I'm so clever.
Rejected from GWU. Lurking around on lsn and top law schools, , I can understand why I didn't make the cut. I sent what I believed to be a brilliant letter of continued interest, but alas, no dice.
Rejected from USC. Trying to remember why I applied there in the first place.
Still haven't heard from Emory. At this point, I'm a week away from sending my deposit to Cardozo.
I sound really down, but in truth, I'm not. This process has exhausted me but I think (hope) in the end, I'll end up where I'm meant to be. Aaaanndd since my pre-law advisor told me it was totally worth the application fee to apply to Harvard, (note to future mid-range candidates: it's not) I'll adopt Jay-Z as my new admissions mentor. Welcome me to the melting pot, and corners where they sell rock. NYC here I come.
OH! PS- visited Cardozo and loved it. I mean it too. Not even a conciliatory loved it because, let's be real, it's the only decent school I got into. But it's in a great neighborhood and the students didn't seem like the creep bags clogging up the top law school message boards.
I'm visiting friends in LA with my parents' money under the guise of checking out Pepperdine. Word on the street is that it's the most Christian/Conservative school in the galaxy. Probs not the place for emilywo. But a free trip to Malibu seems worth the tour guide gushing over the new Alito-sponsored lecture hall.

3/22/2010: Waitlisted from Emory and William and Mary. It sucks but one nice thing about the graphs on this site is I don't feel unfairly rejected. It always surprised me a school with Emory's ranking would regularly accept their 165 applicants, but I guess they're moving up in the world. Cardozo it is. Also got another letter from Pepperdine telling me Kenneth Starr would be my dean. If this is their idea of targeted recruitment, they should probably pay their market research people less.
