First, congrats on Columbia! We have similar numbers and I would also say I have very strong soft factors and a great PS, however, I'm still waiting on Columbia eventhough I applied early decision (now moved to regular admission). Can you elaborate on your softs and what you did during the admissions process that eventually lead to your acceptance? I see you have been accepted to many great schools and assume you're doing something right. Thank you for all your help!

Thank you aelera! The softs skills I spoke about were in regards to my upbringing, and the many adversities i faced to get to and through college. In regards to the process, I owe it to my interviewer at Columbia. She was very thorough with asking questions about my weaknesses in my application. Before the interview, I reflected on what schools might perceive as negative, and tried my best to explain those situations.

Your stats give me hope! I'm also AA and it would be my dream to go to UCLA with a scholarship as I'm originally from Los Angeles. Just wondering why you withdrew?

Thank you man. Your numbers look good, I would say if you take the LSAT and hit 160 you would be golden. But to answer your question, I'm from LA as well, but I couldn't turn down the opportunity to go to Columbia. Columbia gave me a decent package, so I'm going to run with that. Let me know if I can help your application in any way!

Hey gobears22! Thanks so much for posting your info here. It's helping me gauge my options. My top choice is UCLA and seeing as you got a $105,000 scholarship there, I thought I might give it a shot and ask you whether or not I can get an idea of your personal statement. My GPA is around 3.8 and my LSAT Prep Tests are in the low- to mid-160s, so we have similar numbers. (I'll be taking the LSAT officially in just over a week.) I also have strong letters of rec, tons of extracurriculars, and I went to UCLA as an undergrad, so I think it might come down to my personal statement. I am also not a minority, if that matters. Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
