ADVICE TO PROSPECTIVE APPLICANTS:

1. Apply early! I cannot emphasize this enough, hence why I have listed it as #1. I feel that I am a strong applicant but I believe that applying so close to the deadlines put my application at a disadvantage.

2. Take the June or October LSAT

3. Personalize each application. As my applications were sent later after receiving my December LSAT score, I wasn't able to polish my applications as much as I should have in order to be competitive at top tier schools

4. Always do interviews. I didn't do an interview at Cornell and I was denied, but I had a great interview with a Georgetown alum and I was accepted.

5. Study, study, study for the LSAT - it will pay off in the form of scholarship $$. I studied for 3-5 hours a day for about 3 months before the December administration of the LSAT. Classes are generally a waste of money, spend it on a good one-on-one tutor.

6. If you are thinking long-term (i.e. you're reading this at least a year out from applying to law school) take some time to volunteer, preferably in a field related to the law. It looks good on applications and it helps you establish what your career goals are.

7. Don't focus too much on rankings. I wasted a lot of money and time applying to schools that I would never want to attend because they were highly ranked, only to be waitlisted. Do research and narrow down the list before you apply.

GOOD LUCK!
