Additional info & updates

I realize I applied really late (way later than I intended to), so I am not sure if that impacted the decision at UW and UT or if I wouldn't have gotten in anyway. I got into UW and USC like 12 years ago, but for various reasons, I did not attend. (Mainly because I'm an idiot-- or was.)

UW was my first choice. I could see why they wouldn't want to take another chance on me, since I literally didn't show up last time. I mean, I accepted admission and didn't show. I am That Cool. Penn State was my backup because I am from Pennsylvania, and my mom taught at Penn State for many years and just retired from there. They gave me a full tuition scholarship, which makes it tempting.

I was apparently accepted at Pepperdine this Friday because they sent me emails inviting me to accepted students day and a reception for people receiving Dean's Scholarships, yet never sent me anything telling me I was actually accepted. I got online, and it shows I was, obviously, but I find this strange. I have no idea how much the scholarship is for!

**UPDATE: Ok, both Pepperdine & Hastings did that thing where they invited me to admitted students day and Later actually sent me an email admitting me. Got scholarships from both!

THEN, Friday, I got a call that I ignored because I thought it was a telemarketer, and I was at the hospital waiting for my sister to get out of open heart surgery. WELL, it turned out it was the Dean of ASU. He claimed that they reviewed hundreds of apps that day and that mine "really stood out" to them and that they voted unanimously to admit me. I really hope that is true! It was so exciting & flattering! I hope they give me some money. (That's how I'll determine if he says that to ALL the girls... and boys.)

The next day, Seattle Finally sent me an email accepting me with a $30K annual scholarship.

Just waiting for UC Davis now. But strangely I am also in the running for a bigshot job that might pay me a sh**load of money. After all that. We shall see....

Got the stuff in the mail from ASU and it does include a scholarship! $35k first year, $25K second year (I assume decrease is because I would be resident then), and $20K third year (I assume decrease is because I would be working at least somewhat then). Cost of living there is almost as cheap as PA, whereas my other schools all have wicked cost of living (Seattle & California). As for the job, they flew me out to the east coast, were highly impressed, and then offered me almost exactly what I already make! WTF! Actually, it would be less with health care benefits. The reason I want to go to school is because I work in a very small niche industry, and I really am probably the best person in the entire industry (not to be arrogant, but I have heard this from numerous sources). It relates to legal issues, and I have won cases, one landmark, without being an attorney, but my own employer doesn't realize who they have. I should run the place. But if I am not going to, and that has now become apparent, with a law degree, I can easily run my own biz or consult with these kinds of businesses AND have other options in case this small industry disappears. Plus, I just have a "legal mind." So I got REALLY excited about this plan, put a lot of time and work into it, then I saw this job that would have me running a program out here for an east coast company doing what I do, but as the boss. Perfect for me, so I could not help but apply. I also couldn't help but think that getting paid a lot more NOW instead of getting into debt would be a wise financial decision at my age, though i was perfectly committed to doing just that before I saw this job. Now I kinda wish I didn't bother! Because my industry is in WA, UW was my first choice because it's Also got a good national reputation, so that would help if my industry disappears someday OR if I just develop other interests in school. Seattle has a good reputation here, but not national. The others I picked for warmth (obviously) and reputation, except Penn State. Waiting to hear back from the job about a counter, but I feel that ASU is the way to go. (However, I have admittedly gotten myself ALL confused at this rate!)
